BUT…one of these days I want to take this custom Mauser G33/40 in 280 Ackley built by Bill Dowtin. I bought it with intents of using it for plainsgame, but I just don’t target plainsgame enough to need a dedicated rifle and have a hard time leaving my Rigby at home.
That 280 ackley is making mine hide in shame! Absolutely beautiful figure!

Thank you. I do not think I've ever owned a gun with prettier wood. And there is just something about the G33/40 that I love as well. I had to pry this one away from a buddy.

This is what I have chosen for my first trip to Africa in June with Spear Safaris.

Beautiful choices and congratulations on your first safari. I can’t wait to read the report

I usually take a 300 win mag for PG and either 375 or 416 for DG. I've never regretted that combo.

Hi everyone,

This would be my 2-rifle battery, and I would have every confidence hunting anywhere in the world with them...

Top. Custom Zastava built by NT Firearms Gove in 425 Express, fitted with a Leupold VXII 1-4 scope.

Bottom. Weatherby Vanguard in .300 Winchester Magnum, fitted with a Bell & Carlson synthetic stock and a Nikko Stirling 'Platinum Nighteater' 3-10x42.

On left is the 425 Express loaded with 360gn Atomic29 projectile, and on the right is a factory Winchester .300 Win Mag loaded with 180gn Power-Point.

My two-gun battery would be 2 out of these
… depending on what is on the menu and where we are going

Blaser S2… one 470NE and one 9.3x74r… barrel interchangeable so should count as ONE rifle

Husqvarna Custom 338 WM… love this rifle for some odd reason.

Sauer 202 9.3x62 (also have barrels in 223, 308, 3006 ) technically also only ONE rifle…

Last year it was a 416 Rem Mag and a 300 Win Mag, the year before it was a 458 Win Mag and a 30-06, year before that it was a 404Jeffery and 375 H&H. This year I am thinking 416 Rem and 9.3x62. 2027, 416 Rem and back to a 375 H&H, I’ve settled on the 416 Rem as my DG rifle and PG rifle could be anything from 270 Win up to 375 H&H. I am fortunate to have plenty of choices. Here is the 416 Rem and 300 Win in action last year. View attachment 754886View attachment 754887View attachment 754888View attachment 754889My
May I ask where you got your cartridge case for your belt?

I'm a one rifle for travel hunting guy, but I do bring two different cartridges. Does that count? Blaser R8 (top rifle) in 375H&H with Barnes 300 grain TSX and Woodleigh 300 grain Hydro for smaller stuff and whenever the PH asks me to load them.

If I take two rifles, it's because my bride is hunting as well. Hers the wood stocked gem in 300WM. Although she has a new 17mm barrel on it now. ;)

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
