Six months ago I paid a visit to my gunsmith to check on the progress of my 458 Lott. As things go we got around to discussing Mauser rifles and I mentioned that I had a FN actioned 9.3x62 Husqvarna I wanted to rebuild. He got up and went digging in his safe and came out with a barreled action and handed it to me. I cant say if it was the name Mauser Oberndorf that made my heart skip a beat or the fact that it was in great condition with matching numbers on the barrel, action and bolt, it being in 9.3x62 was a bonus, the action was also not drilled neither was the bolt handle bent. In short a beautifull setup that I can confirm was buildt around 1932-34 as a sporting model.
Needless to say I left with my wallet somewhat lighter and a new project in the works.
I have selected and purchased a stock blank that I think will suite the classic rifle. If I am lucky, my Norwegian gunsmith will start the build in Feb 2015, but I have a few problems or decisions to make by then.
1. Do I drill the action for scope mount and then go the whole hog with new safety, new bolt handle and some engraving?
2. Do I leave the old girl as she is and just have the custom stock made?
Any ideas
