Should you need any more information, please don't hesitate to ask on the forum or via private message function.

My condolences on the loss England suffered the past weekend against the Springboks! ;)

Welcome James, nice to have another European hunter here, as Loodt said sorry for the rugby Mate. Everyone here pretty much gave you the best info for what you want to do, you may also want to consider a starter package, they are sometimes cheaper. The bad news is that Kudu will drive you insane!! You cannot hunt just one! If however you are only ever going to hunt one, I would suggest you hold out for a good bull. I have had many, many guys take what is considered a great bull for the Eastern Cape ( 48-52 inch) but still wanted to hunt a larger specimen, unfortunately the big Eastern Cape Kudu do not match their brothers up country, genetics are what they are. One more hint and book with SA airways as you wont be paying extra to fly your rifle if you do take it. Best of luck and I am sure the gentleman here will help you with everything you may want to know.

Thanks for bringing up the rugby Loodt - I should have guessed a would be a big target for rugby jokes! :)

Hunthard - The size difference (and trophy fee) between Eastern Cape and Limpopo for Kudu is something that I am still trying to decide upon - do I go for an EC Kudu which while slightly smaller will leave me with more cash for other trophies, or go for a larger Kudu in Limpopo (or a similar area) but have less in the budget for other animals?

I have seen some good deals on this website in the deals section, and also a lot of packages online that include animals that I would be after - the choices out there are fantastic and I will be using the spreadsheet idea that was suggested to help us decide

James I hear you not a easy choice, the two bulls are both EC bulls and rank among two of the better ones I have taken, what the EC Kudu lack in horn lenght they make up in their beautifull dark coloration, in the end its allways about how you hunted instead of what you hunted that makes the memories last.

Thanks for posting those Hunthard - I would be very happy with a trophy like either of those!

Thanks Phil

Hopefully Spike will spot thus thread now he is mentioned but I will also drop him a line at some point too.

James

hi james i have been off the internet/communication world for a few days and am just catching up. you can email me and i will pm you my number so you can call if you wish, cheers mike

Welcome to AH,

You have been given some good information. There are some good outfitters/agents on here to choose from. It will be a hard choice, but also part of the fun. Enjoy the entire process. There is only one first time.(y)

All the best.

PS: Plan your hunt around a new moon.

Great Kudu's Tokkie, I like the way you think. For many out there it's all about the size, but it's actually the hunt itself that counts the most.

James you say you are going with a friend to share both 30th birthdays so do a 2x1 to get the max enjoyment with each other. Unless you each want to take 6 or more trophies there will be ample time n a 7 day hunt for both of you to hunt!
