I am still in camp at Spear Safaris Tintshuba lodge in Limpopo hunting some plains game and watching buffalo. We downed this beast on the second day of a 7 day hunt. I still have another couple of hunting trips during the next 3 weeks and I honestly won't have time to share a hunt report with you guys any time soon.

However, I just have to share some pics of my buffalo with you... I have learned much from Ernest Dyason and Koos Moulder during my short time here, and I am extremely proud of the old Dugga boy that I was fortunate enough to track down and take as he prepared to bed down with his partners in the think of things. We followed these old buffalo all morning over several miles as we picked up their tracks early from he waterhole they had visited the night before. The presence of a couple of male lions on the track pushed these animals very far in their attempt to put distance between themselves and the big cats. With the help of Koos and our tracker Chengeta, I was able to identify and follow the largest track with them and with the help of the good Lord above, I was actually blessed to take the right buffalo from the half dozen bulls.

This was the perfect animal for me to harvest on my first buffalo hunt!

Massive bosses, bashed up/dull horns, battle scar on hind quarter (presumably from lion or another buffalo), that is a very excellent bull by my way of thinking.
In fact, for my opinion and taste - this buffalo is one of the best looking ones I have seen posted in the forum here, and there are some very fine ones here.

Here is a track from one of our competitors. Also shown is the big buffalo track we followed that was mixed in with all the others, and a shot of the foot that belonged to that track. How lucky can a guy get to have the one visible animal among the bedding bulls be the big footed, big bossed beast I wanted?!?
