NAMIBIA: My Hunt With Kalahari Hunting Safaris

thanks guys.

yes i am very proud/ happy with my kudu just what i was hoping for 54 or better. Now I have to figure out how i want to do my mount, thinking of combining the impala, gemsbok and kudu on one pedestal just trying to find examples. i know i have seen them.

A Gemsbok and Kudu on one pedestal might be a tall order. They are large.

Awesome writeup Biggdawg. A LOT of shooting and the trip of a lifetime. Thanks for sharing. Hog

I really like your Kudu and Gemsbok. Congrats on a great hunt.

here is the one bullet recovered from the gemsbok i shot at 250 or so yards frontal. the barnes 200lrx performed flawlessly the whole trip. i was pushing thes at 2948 at 1000 feet so at 4000 ft they were in the 2980 range.

retained weight of the bullet was 199.9 grains out of 200 sounds perfect to me.

Great post on the bullet. Amazing it didn't lose anything in the process. I'm guessing it didn't hit any bone on the way?

Bigdawg, the Kalahari is just a magic place some pictures of mine when I was there in 2010.

looks to be a lot less grass then. Is that Larry S. with you?

will tell Tom and Linda hi when i see him -- he will be building me another rifle here shortly.

Yep that is Larry there standing with me on the dune. We had an unbelieveable amount of rain this year and when I was there Tom and Linda said it would be their last trip well looks like they just can't stay away. Send my regards to Larry as well please.

Yep, I can verify that it was cold in Namibia the last two weeks of June 2014. Being from Texas it is nice to be cold in June. Great hunt! Great Pictures! Great Story!
It sounds like the baboons are ready to rename you Natty Bumpo. (y)

thanks for the compliments.

I absolutely loved hunting the baboons. I would love to go back and just hunt them, along with a cull hunt. You really got to stretch out the shots. So i say they are great for honing your long range shooting skills.
