I find the AH an extremely interesting forum. I have shot in India, mostly for feathered game, before the lovely pastime was, sadly, banned.
May be one day my wife and I can plan a shoot in Africa.
Thanks, Gentlemen!

Welcome to the forum sir! You will enjoy it here and ,make lots of good friends. Fire away if there is any questions about hunting in Africa.

Yours,

Welcome VP,

Great to have you here.

Just last year we had a large group of hunters from India. If you ever need some references from them or guidance to your safari planning please PM me.

Thank you so much, Gentlemen, for the warm welcome.
Phoenix Phil: Not many Tiger wallahs left anymore...had a pleasant encounter with a wise old tigress, who chastised us for being too close while she was hunting...stood up on her hind legs, looked straight into my eyes, retracted claws, sized it up and went away, without uttering a word or doing us any harm, from about 5 feet or so!
Jerome: Thanks for sharing such rare pictures of Indian Shikar days, makes us all nostalgic.
I look forward to writing & hearing on the great forum.
Happy Hunting!!

That would be what I'd call a dirty pants moment!

Welcome to AH, VP !

Thanks!
We can't even shoot a pigeon!
Surely, in some areas of North India, one could apply for a shooting permit that allows limited culling of wild boars & Blue bull. The permit is issued by the local magistrate / revenue officers, on the recommendation of the village headmen affected by these animals. But it is nothing like an organised hunt of bygone days. Further, with high density population it is dangerous to use a rifle as should be for such game. Compounded with the fact that you may have trigger happy hunters to let off, without being safe, it is not worth the trouble.
Phoenix Phil: Surprisingly, that encounter left us more excited than scared. I have seen even experienced rangers become abnormally excited in the presence and close proximity of a tiger!

Abnormally excited with a tiger at 5 feet I can see. When you refer to "Blue bull", would this be Nilgai?

Welcome VP Singh,

Here in this forum you find excellent Safari companies and individual PHs who can arrange high quality African adventures for you, at affordable prices.
Most can offer combination rifle hunting and bird/shotgun hunting safaris, and many can also offer guided fishing as well.
Rifles, shotguns and fishing tackle are all available to loan or to rent, for clients who do not wish to travel with sporting goods.
I wish you Happy Travels.

Regards,
Velo Dog.
