I've been toying with the idea of hunting Africa. It seems like a great deal compared to hunting in North America - guided hunts, anyway.

I'm starting now in hopes of having things figured out and budgeted by 2016. The wife and I are having another child in September so I figured I should give the wife a chance to recover and settle into things since she wants to go with.

So I'm open to any and all suggestions and would definitely appreciate any help I can get. I'm especially interested in trying to figure out all the various 'not-included' fees/items.

Anyway, this looks like a pretty good group and a wealth information. I look forward to hearing from and reading about the various members.
 
You have certainly come to the right place! Welcome!

Lots of great outfitters here. Many will go to great lengths to cater to the non-hunting wife/children.

You are also very wise to begin so soon. It is never too early to start studying.

Feel free to ask any questions that you have, that you cannot find answers to.

Welcome to AH Whitetailguy! Congratulations on the soon-to-be newest member of your family!

In reference to the "additional fees" you had questions to, for the most part your extras are any flights, any trips off property and tips (RSA/Nam). It's not a guarantee and always best to get exact clarification from your outfitter prior.

Lots and lots of great outfitters here on AH and I'm sure they will provide all the guidance you seek.

Wish I was that prepared. If had the funds set aside I'd jump on that. Selling prime RealEstate? That's crazy talk!

Buffalo county is some seriously good whitetail hunting country! Between 1996 and 2005, Buffalo county registered more bucks into the B&C record book than any other county in the entire country!

80 acres for 4250.00 a acre. That's a lot of money to hunt Africa where you don't sit in a cold tree waiting for a animal to walk past. Don't get me wrong I like whitetail hunting. Yet I will rather from now on lease hunting land .Whitetail hunting in buffalo county has become a rich mans sport.
 
Buffalo County...no guarentee to shot a big one. I think you are smart to sell. You could go to Africa, every year.

welcome to the forums,

congrats on the new family, i went to Africa one while my wife was 8 months pregnant and another time when my baby was 8 weeks old. I'm still paying for those trips. LOL.
