What sights are a must to see or do in Namibia? We are renting a car and going to travel around for a week after the hunt. But not sure where to go.Any suggestions
Dan

You can always go through Etosha Park and Walvis Bay on the coast.

Damn man, that is wide open question.

Renting something tougher than a car night be an idea.
Lots of the roads are gravel.

Seeing all this would blow more than a month. You are going to have to choose wisely.
These Namibian destinations are not a short distance apart.

Tsumkwe - if you want to hand with the San.
Sossusvlei -
Etosha NP -
Namib Desert
Twyfelfontein - Rock Art
Swakopmund Walvis Bay
Skeleton Coast -
Waterburg Plateau

Have fun.

namibia is an amazing country to drive through just for the changes in the vegetation, from walvis heading north it goes from just desert sand to proper african bush when you get to the north and the caprivi, with everything in between .just avoid Doc in walvis at all costs , unless you can play dice and drink industrial amounts of jagermeister shots .....:)

Ok we are going to etosha park halali for two nights then to namutoni two nights then drive to swakopmund. So that narrows it done.
Dan thanks

Perfect. You are taken care of just like that.

Read everything you can about driving in Namibia.
Watch out for Warthogs and other critters in the ditch and on the road.

FYI This is what passes for advance warning of roads hazards!

I thought we were but my wife wants to try and see where the Himba tribe live so not set yet

A great trip

I thought we were but my wife wants to try and see where the Himba tribe live so not set yet
We rented a truck, a toyota savana, with a locking canopy. We drove to Soussesvlei and stayed 2 days. We then drove to Swakopmund for 2 days (cornerstone guest house). From Swakopmund we drove to Camp Kipwe in Damaraland. Don't miss the day trip to see the desert elephants as well as the bushman etchings at Twyfelfontein. From here you can make a day of seeing the himba and get to Etosha Park. I hunted with friends for a couple of days near Etosha while my wife went to the park. From here we returned on the tar road all the way to Windhoek. If I can Help, PM meIMG_0495.jpgIMG_0216.jpgIMG_0808.jpgIMG_0262.jpg

All good recommendations from members... I guess you have your trip planned but wanted to provide you with this resourceful link: www.namibian.org

In my opinion 2 full days and 2 nights at Etosha would be sufficient... I would do one night at Okaukuejo and the other at Namutoni Camp.

Since you will be in Swakopmund I would HIGHLY recommend the Sandwich Harbour excursion from Walvis Bay with the tour company Sandwich Harbour 4x4. Check out their website at www.sandwich-harbour.com, which by the way does not give justice to that tour at all, really something to experience and I can promise you an incredible time.

While in Swakopmund you should go to dinner at The Tug Restaurant for some amazing local Oysters, Crayfish and Fish! Here is their website: www.the-tug.com

Here are some pictures from a recent trip that do not show the true splendor of the desert nor the fun in the dunes!

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
