My first centrefire was a Sako Finnbear .270. I've always regretted selling it, and have just bought a 75 Deluxe in the same calibre. I'd like to take it to Africa, but it will be used on UK deer for the time being. It's good to have a .270 again.
The skin doesn't peel away from the carcase easily, so there's a lot of knife work involved. The venison is good though, which makes the effort worthwhile.
Just had the head measured; my first gold medal in 20 years of deer stalking / hunting. It was also the fourth gold taken by my guide in the same area.
The guys at PSE are both hunters and range shooters; a great combination. I had reservations about the stock I purchased, which is the multi purpose and the least tactical, but have no regrets now. I find the higher comb really helps with scope alignment.
