I know a gal from Montana who had her crate broken into by a couple of crack heads in the states at a truck hub. Stole her waterbuck horns , impala horns and blesbok horns. Truck company would only pay for the value of the horns on the open market. So truck company looked on ebay and gave...

Dip and pack skull, how clean?

My favorite meat also. The zebra shoulder mounts are the greatest. I'm not much for rugs out of anything. The pic is of my daughter, 10 years ago with the pedestal mount of her Mt. Zebra. The guy with her is the guy who built her the wood part of the base. The wood came from a 120 year old barn...

    Free Range Namibia?

We hunted Namibia 10 years ago. All low fence. Was a great time. Limited on species because they are all native to the land. It was more of a culture experience than the hunts we have done in South Africa. We hunted with Westfalen Safaris.

    African taxidermy a transferable skill?

He dosent want the African mounts if that's the case. But that said, was this taxidermist one of those cheaper than dirt taxidermist ,that finally saw the light and raised his prices to where he should have been a long time ago. I know some taxidermist that are charging 1100 for impala but...

    African taxidermy a transferable skill?

A great north America taxidermist can do any animal that you throw in front of him. Even if he has done one or not. Key word GREAT . I would try and find one who has spent time in Africa. Look at some mounts he did for himself. Most Taxidermist hate the repairs and hard to deal with skins...

    Crate Quarantined?

Restricted crates are only supposed to be picked up by Bonded carrier. Like a truck line. Not sure if a USDA certified person for a company like a taxidermy or tannery can pick up or not.

    Crate Quarantined?

Were starting to see more crates from South Africa come restricted no matter what's in them. Like buckwild said its your birds. (all avian always restricted) if you got away with swine before, its that some one dropped the ball at entry. But you are still required to know the laws. I ask our...

Zebra Meat Should Be On The Braai, Say Stellenbosch Animal Scientists

That was from last July in the cape. Our PH Jaco cooked it over the open fire with Acacia wood. He likes zebra meat , but doesn't like to cook it as he says all the yellow fat has to be removed before cooking. I have talked with some people who say they didn't like Zebra meat. Maybe it had the...
