Photo of said Dad, deer, rifle.
This was just in November. Not sure I'll use the gun again, I may, seeing as this was a giant pain in my rear getting loaded.
I'll try and find the load, not sure the charge at the moment but I know it was 4831sc and Barnes 100gr ttsx
Wow! Thread from the dead haha!
Bob what I finally ended up doing was using 7x57 brass so when I necked down it left a donut in the neck. I adjusted the die to neck down just until I could force the bolt closed to hold everything in nm place. Made 30 or cases that way, and it worked great...
Im going to play around with a few in that range that I haven't seen much testing on like Ramshot and maybe Hunter and TAC and maybe one of the enduron powders from IMR. The more we all test the more info we can all share!
What dies did you go with?
That thread on the other sight is what got me to do mine (I'm on that thread towards the later 1/3) and a member there is who built my gun.
Im about to start trimming all my QC brass down so I can start necking and fireforming this weekend.
Im also curious about that cfe load...
Haven't had time to really work on it recently. I almost have the channel opened up enough. It was suggested to me by several people I need a 2nd recoil lug, so I am likely going to hand that professionally done and bedded at the same time
Yea this rifle is a 1962. Its not totally original as it sits in a very nice Fajen stock, but there's just "something" about it that's drawing me in. Very tempting, even with the flame thrower stories haha.
Does anyone have experience with the Win pre-64 featherweight with the 22" barrel? Any reports on velocity?
(I'm not looking for anecdotes on proper bbl length, what your 24, 26, 32 inch barrels does, JUST the original 22")
