While out hunting I carry a fixed blade Grohmann skinner..made in Canada I believe. Not expensive but keeps a nice edge longer than blades that cost many times as much.
Welcome....I would add a Hartmann's Mountain Zebra to your list as well. Do you have an outfitter picked out yet? A few things that pop into my mind when I think about first safari advice is...don't over pack, you will no matter what but remember your laundry will be done daily...It's colder in...
For sub .30 cal I've used 7mmRem mag, 7-08, 25-06, 243.....all but the 243 used barnes ttsx or tsx. The 243 was a camp gun and can't remember the ammo used. Scopes were all some flavor of Swarovski or Leupold.
Next PG trip I'll be using a 6.5x55 for no other reason than nostalgia...
Depending...

Used properly it can and is the best of both...
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.....I'm a little hesitant to post pics of dangerous game with some of the recent media debacles that we have all seen.
Ive only hunted buffalo so far and will take my first "cat safari" next year....no elephants yet and I'm regretting pushing some of these...
Since I'm the new guy...Let me try not to step on too many toes...
You can make many different arguments about why an American factory gun is "good enough" or "does everything I need it to".... but make no mistake..they are not the same as a high end Euro gun. I can kill a deer with a $400...
