Who’s going to Hunt Africa this year?

I personally think that this covid dystopia (lockdowns, restrictions) will last till end of this year at least. This crazy train cannot be stopped anymore. I hope that in 2022 things start to get better. First trip after this needs to be extra special like buffalo bowhunt..

Huntress interview on giraffe scandal and CBS documentary

It is a bit difficult to estimate economic impact of hunting vs. rest of tourism but here is one study: https://conservationaction.co.za/resources/reports/lions-share-economic-benefits-trophy-hunting/

    70lb Recurve?

There is a big difference whether draw length is 26" or 30" and if bow and shooter is perfectly tuned or not. 70#/30" should be enough if everything else is perfect.

    Qatar Airways??

We just flew HEL-DOH-WDH and back with Qatar Airlines. The only a bit negative thing was 8 hour night time layover on our way back home. By the way the transit desk where you can ask for possible complimentary layover stuff is before security. I took my bow in Terraglide and no questions asked...

    Qatar Airways??

I have also booked with Qatar Helsinki-WDH-Helsinki in February 2018. Direct flight to Windhoek is very nice especially considering that Comair does not transport bows (is it still valid?), no paper work required when travelling with a minor child, and also I have been travelling through JHB so...

NAMIBIA: Has Anyone hunted With Omatako Hunting Trails

Hello, I am considering a short bowhunting trip to Omatako Hunting Trails (Namibia), the place looks a really nice for non-hunters and I have gotten prompt replies from them. I would really appreciate any input if someone has hunted or visited that place. Thanks!

    Heavy arrow help

With 70+ pound modern compound bow you cannot have too stiff arrow. Accu-Tough inserts are quite weak, and I would not use those. You can .204 ID steel (60 gr) inserts from Victory for example. For example 29.5" Gold Tip 200 with steel insert and some kind of footing in the front (like Gold...

    Bowhunting Packing List?

Regarding bow I think the best preparation for the hunt is to double check that high quality cables, string, d-loop, bow in general is in top condition. Don't take a bow with fuzzy strings to Africa, and make sure for example peep is properly tied in. Properly tied d-loop or peep will never...

20 yard Shot dead on 30 yard shot way off??

It also could be that your draw length is a bit too long or you are torquing string with release (my bad habit). If you shoot a field pointed bare shaft (no vanes) it easier to see effect of for example string torque. Also make sure your are not torquing bow with improper grip. Great source for...

A little more broadhead testing heavy arrows

If you are shooting a modern fast compound bow there is no need for super heavy arrows anymore. I know a few bowhunters who have taken many big cape and water buffaloes and they are convinced that perfectly flying 600 gr (or even less) arrow out of 70+ pound compound bow (with reasonable draw...

    Traditional Bow Hunting

If you have a modern 50#/33" trad bow it is more than enough power assuming that your arrows are flying straight. The biggest animal I have seen cleanly killed with that kind of poundage was a big cape eland bull. So it is enough for all plains game animals for sure. It is all about having...
