Like I mentioned in my introduction, one of my favorite hobby outside of hunting is 4x4 trucks and off roading. I'm a Toyota owner in a land where Fords and Chevys reign as kings. I especially love older Toyotas for their ruggedness and reliability and I've owned several in the last two decades.

The problem is that the best trucks Toyota has to offer aren't available here in North America. No Hilux or Landcruisers here unfortunately.

I'm curious to see what Toyota trucks you guys use or own in Africa. Feel free to share a story or two about them as well.

Here's a few pics of my 2003 Toyota Tacoma for starters;

There has been many a lament from those going to Africa upon return to find that the trucks they drive in Africa, we cannot in the US. They are neat and tough. I have an F250 4x4 Stroker and its pretty tough, but I dont believe it would take anything like the punishment that a Landcruiser pickup would. I was first introduced to them in Tanzania in 1985. If you look at my pics I think you will see it, a green one. All other hunts have also used them, spent a couple days in a Hilux as well in RSA 2009 after one of the trackers tried to wrap the Cruiser truck around several rocks and trees! My PH was not amused I promise you.:dancing:

bellero that there is about the best ute ive seen from any that Canadians and americans drive
when l was In Canada last year 8 out every 6 cars l seen were them there big yank tanks with as much room in each seat as my armchair at home and a console as bis as picnic hamper .
though they do have big trays and lots of horse power .they were bloody uncomfortable off the road and handle like wet sponges .some bush tracks we had to do 3 point turns to get around and all I could do was laugh mate .
I kept telling the guide that l would prefer my 3 litre tubo diesel hilux any day of the week over them freight trains
heres a couple of pictures of my little mate ,

gday willem
your son in law has got a great ute mate
l like the treads and rims
id love to throw some money at my little ute but its my work ute
im in the market to build a big boys toy .
just gotta buy a farm first according to the minister of war and finance

DOn't really have any pictures of my Toy's... We had a 2007 FJ Cruiser that we traded off on a '13 4Runner. Both will go anywhere I want to go. I also have a Yank Tan as it was called, and I'm not afraid to take it anywhere either. The road into my bear baits is only that in name, full of mud holes & washouts. My truck goes through no problem. I would love to get one of those Toyota Backies for fun, but it might not be able to pull the 8000lbs holiday trailer up to the lake, lol.

Nice truck observe. Keep'em coming guys!
