Fantastic old bull! Looks like a huge base on that main horn. Heck of a deal for anyone wanting a white rhino. A good taxidermist with rhino experience can easily cast a replica horn extended to what it would have had it not been cut. One would likely not want to display the real horn anyway,, for security reasons. Certainly the right kind of rhino to take:)

Is the rhino out on the full 45,000 acres or is that cross fenced into smaller sections?

Good day ActionBob yes this bull is free roaming on the 45 000 acres .

keep in mind this is not the only bull on this property .

Is this able to be hunted with a bow? I would like a rhino but only with a bow.

@mrpoindexter unfortunately no thick skin animals are allowed to be hunted with a bow by the nature conservation law of south Africa .
A bow hunter my self it is frustrating because the equipment is way better than what it was in 1986 when they did there research testing .

But for now that's the law .

I would also be interested because a Rhino hunt is rarely offered at such a price.

I don't know how difficult or easy it will be to track down the Rhino, but shooting such a game is also an experience. I have only one problem; what I do with the trophy because I absolutely despise head mounts or mounts in general. However, I think that a trophy hunter and collector who doesn't have such a problem will get in touch.

What i see as the big incentive for this opportunity is that 1. The bull is old. 2. Although it has been dehorned, bull has significant regrowth and huge bases on the horns. 3. It is on a very large property, especially for rhino. 4. There are other rhinos present so you have to hunt through them for this specific animal. 5. I've no experience with this outfitter but I believe he has a very good reputation. 6. It is priced very well, more like a young bull might be.

As for shooting such a game animal, yes it is a unique experience that is difficult to put into words.

As to what to do with it...... You can always do a very classic European mount..... Or....

keep in mind this is not the only bull on this property .
This brings up another important point. When you have a property with a managed rhino population, best management practices have to include a plan to prevent inbreeding or an old bull breeding his own daughters. Thus it necessitates removal of these old bulls. So where is the market? Zoos seem to be full up. Anyone who wants a breeding bull would obviously want a younger animal. You cannot just turn it loose as it will soon be poached. And it will never again contribute to the rhino population through procreation.

However it can contribute greatly to the future of the species through it's ability to raise money through it's sale to the highest legal bidder. A trophy hunter.

Hunting an animal such as this in a situation such as this is very easily explained to rational people. Even the general public.

This hunt is sold ... Thank you for all the interest.

The only reasonable solution is a full body mount. Lol.

So on animals like, elephant, rhino, and hippo I think a bleached scull is a great “trophy”. It has more of a scientific educational feel. People generally are fascinated by them and enjoy the opportunity the see them.

Yea, and you can squeeze it in between the wall and the full mount;) Just have two sets of replica horns made:)

Candidate for post of the year! Thank you!

Thank you Scott for the great words .

I am just wondering how a dehorned bull like this would score in SCI. Any idea?
