Hello,
Are Outfitters who offer rifle rental uncommon?
I do not want to bring my rifle with me.
In looking at a large number of websites not many mention rifle rental.
Are they simply not advertising that option?

I think plenty do offer it.
I've only been once but I hired a quality rifle and scope.
Some listings of offers here have rifle rental and spirits , taxidermy etc listed under not included but rifles are often available as an extra.

Rifle rental is fairly common. Some are very nice rifles, with great glass. Others, not so much. I would ask questions about it. I've used the Outfitters rifles in several places.

I got to use a better quality rifle and scope than I owned myself, on my first trip. Rifle and ammo were part of the total package, not an additional cost. I would certainly ask a outfitter if interested in one of their hunt packages.

I take my own rifles because I really enjoy using them and it is a big part of the fun for me, not because I think I won't have access to something perfectly capable of doing what I need. If you can hit a volleyball at 200 yards with it, you are going to be fine on the vast majority of your shots.

I simply look at what I’ve invested in my rifles. Having them bounce around the world earning frequent flier miles doesn’t do much for me, especially considering who’s going to have access to it and handle it.
I’d rather spend a couple hundred bucks and leave mine stateside safe & sound.
Now, I get some of you have never had issues and I can appreciate that. I just know my luck.

If your chosen Outfitter will not rent you a rifle I would be shocked.
They may not list it on a price list, just ask.

Cultural note: They may refer to it as "Rifle Hire"

Oh, I could hit a volleyball at 200 yards with my .338WM, but not sure about a tennis ball? I should have bought a sniper rifle in a Lapua cartridge with a 25x scope after reading about the astronomical distances PG animals are sometimes taken at. I fell for the CRF/walnut stock BS that some have promoted here for PG. Won't make that mistake again!

The trick is hitting that volleyball off of sticks.

Just use a 6.5 creedmoor....

With a 35x Night Force scope that my father in law has on his custom elk rifle! Insanity!
I have heard the 6.5cm is lo-ong range cartridge

When I was researching where to go I believe every one of the outfitters on my short list offered rifles. The place I chose has a list of their rifles, calibers, and scopes listed on their website. Frankly all - particularly the scopes - are better than anything I own. But like a number of folks on here, using my own is a big part of the experience for me. Besides... I haven't seen anyone offering rental of lever actions. :p

We’ll, his is a .300WM with a Night Force. With a 6.5CR, I’m thinking a 40x for those 1,000 meter shots on Duiker or Golden Jackals? LOL

Just last week some young whipper snapper told me the 6.5 can outshoot the Geratric .30's
I just turned 50 and my tolerance for nonsense has not improved.

An outfitter without a rifle is like a carpenter without carpentry tools !! If the carpenter has to borrow tools from you, he ain't much of a carpenter.

Hi PaulB,
I have a Ballard Arms Model 1885 chambered for .333 Jeffery Flanged. Do you have any idea where I can get ammo for this?

I am new to this forum so I am sorry if I am doing something wrong!
Thank You!
