Interesting (and hilarious) view of Florida from a virtuous visitor from the north.

Thank you for posting that. I intend to share it widely.

The Canadian problem isn't a COVID problem, it's a medical system problem. With Florida's rate of infection their medical system "is stretched thin". All Canadian provinces had health care systems that were in that state prior to the pandemic. The politicians would never risk criticism of our beloved bullshit system. Neither will the press. I think there is a greater understanding of this issue now. But, not sure how it will play out. Maybe if we ignore it long enough it will just solve itself.

I’ve been in Ontario for the last 10 days, and these Covid restrictions are making me crazy. I feel like I am in prison. My time in the “yard” is going to work, and then I return to my solitary confinement in the evening. I have seen only the desk attendant at the hotel. I occasionally hear other guests (starting to feel like Bram Stoker’s Dracula in here).

My only source of entertainment is to wander about Farm Boy (grocery store) picking out random things for dinner (instead of fast food).

Well, they seem like educated people. I would guess they would have (or should have) known about the freedom people enjoy in Florida during the "pandemic". It's on TV, internet news, social media, etc., so why go there knowing that? What could you possibly discover that's different from all the media hyped coverage? I'm guessing they wanted to experience FREEDOM from constant fear and isolation?

WHY would you go there, especially for 10 days?

Work…my employer hates me…
That's what Zoom meetings are for! I didn't think hardly anyone was travelling for business anymore. Bit of Covid trivia: Before the pandemic, 1 in 67 workers in the US worked remotely. Now it's 1 in 7. My wife has constant Zoom meetings from home with people from all over here and some outside the country. Tell your employer to get with the pandemic protocol! If not, you should get "mental health" (like combat) pay for being in an "isolation zone". Ha! Ha! Ha!

I’d call that Freedumb
I'll say!
Man! What an ass-hat!
I assure you, not all Canadians feel this way. I wish the DICK-tator(s) would piss off already!
My thoughts? If you want to lock yourself up and hide from the rest of the world, then go ahead. As long as you can pay your own way (and your taxes) then I don't give a shit. But don't judge me or anyone else for wanting to carry on. This virus kills less than 1% of the people who get infected. Masks are not the answer. It's a virus for f***s sakes! A pissy little mask is going to stop it? Get real! Might as well accept that everyone is going to get it eventually, unless a vaccine becomes available. And by vaccine, I mean one that will prevent you from getting and spreading the virus. All we have now is a shot that reduces your symptoms. Better than nothing I guess, especially for those who are high risk and/or CHOOSE to have it. Canada and the USA are countries in which freedom is supposed to be valued. Freedom of choice. Freedom of speech. Freedom to not be forced or coerced into getting an injection, wearing a mask, or hiding away from everybody else in isolation. Now, if the masks and jabs were actually 100% undeniably reliable and stopping this virus in it's tracks, then perhaps I could see some value in this, but as it sits, these restrictions and mandates are worse than the virus itself.

BUT Cam don't you care about other people? Just by writing what you did I personally witnessed 3 people drop dead from covid! Surely you can be guilt tripped into agreeing that we need to be locked down, masked, socially distanced, stripped of some of our rights and vaxxed for our own good and the good of every living creature in the planet.

Oh and if every second person loses their income or maybe their home due to inflation it's worth it to save one miserable life. And let's face it if you lost your income you really should have bought Pharma stocks 2 years ago as you probably could retire comfortably now.

:A Stirring:

I sent this to a friend in Ontario who has drunk the cool-aid. He’s not amused and actually thinks Canada should ration hospital beds for non-vaxed people. It is amazing how easy it has proven to control a population and cause them to willingly give up their rights.

You are so correct. It is almost cult like. Our liberal friends love to accuse conservatives of wanting to live in a "Handmaid's Tale" world. The closest thing that I have yet seen to that uniformed, group think reality are the virtuous masked brigades setting out each day in mortal fear of their lives to set an example for all mankind.

We have a huge open air California style, high-end mal in Austin called The Domain. If you woke up there and looked around at the shoppers, you would assume you were just outside Long Beach. Austin has had a huge influx of Californians, and they naturally congregate there (if they can afford it). We were having lunch at a restaurant there Saturday, and three out of four shoppers were masked, many double masked. It is almost as if they walk around taking comfort from fellow members as the rest of Texas is accelerating putting this thing in the rear view mirror.

What I found so interesting about the twitter stream is that the Canadian couple was perfectly serious. I initially thought it had to be some sort of parody, but reading the actual stream one realizes it was a "serious" take on their observations in Florida. Really sad.

Ya know, I got two shots and a chaser so I could comfortably travel more so than for any other reason. Case and point…we’ve been in New Orleans for a few days now and the city-wide mandate is mask and vaccination card to get into any building in the city.
100% of the places ask to see them, 99% do so with a roll of the eyes and a thanks. Some say “thanks, now please take that off and enjoy”.
Having a great time but without the card it would be something completely disappointing.

So glad we bailed out on Comucanada, as soon as the border opened up to drive. Been waiting to bring my African memories to our AZ home for two years.
Love the lack of Covid bullshit here. Might see the odd mask, usually on someone older.
It is life as it should be, and it is awesome!

Democrat governor and mayor. :E Shrug:

My God, the maniacal right wing drivel on this platform has finally exceeded the breaking point. I have never seen so many self-righteous, criminally ignorant minds assembled in one place at one time. For you Americans who don't like coming To Canada, please don't come. We do not want you here. Actually, I can't think of any place that does.
As for AH sponsors from Africa, I will have to look for your ads elsewhere. It is sad that the "African Hunting" mandate platform has been hijacked by utter idiots to spout whatever nonsense enters their heads, and to grind whatever axe needs grinding with no thought to neutrality or objectivity. I intend to delete my membership of the "if you don't think like me, you are wrong club". Jerome, can't this website return to what it was intended?
