You eastern Europeans do need to sort out this Finnish/Hungarian thing. Where did they really originate?

Now that is a question for a whole new thread, or perhaps, a whole new forum.

What are you saying, Finns and Hungarians-respected nations, members of the EU.

I think the only sensible way is to portray the Gypsies as a nation being suppressed by Russian imperialism. The West will give them asylum, and they will happily leave for the United States and Western Europe. It worked with the Chechens.

The Gypsies are originally from India, and the language is Indo-European, said to have similarities to Hindi. Many dialects, to the point of complete mutual misunderstanding. I have read that they even retain remnants of the caste system, and their Eastern European name "tsigani" comes from the Greek word for "untouchables".

A peculiar people, they do not assimilate. And terrible nationalists, I read their public posts, this is something :). One friend had a business with them, said that it was not a sin to deceive one of their own, but a merit. Girls often start their sexual life in the family (this was explained to me by a natural Gypsy), the Gypsy principle "who got up earlier, got dressed best". They are basically Christians, however, in the Gypsy language God is "Devel", which is somehow annoying.

Good blacksmiths, welders, horse experts, etc. They sing, dance, and compose songs. In the movies, it is true, gypsy women are portrayed by beautiful actresses, but I have never seen a beautiful Gypsy woman in my life.

Perhaps there is hope for our brothers in Oz after all...

Its nice to see at least one of the Five Eyes standing up to the Chinese..

Some Gypsies in Europe have the self-designation "Roma". They do not know Latin, but they once lived in Romania as slaves to Romanian and Hungarian landowners. They gained their freedom in the 1860s.
I thought we weren't allowed to call them gypsies anymore, don't the idiots in charge want us to call them travellers now?

So far, the opposite is true. Gypsies are proud of their names. And they (unlike of) do not have an inferiority complex. Although their activists struggle with discrimination, or what appears to be discrimination.

And they are offended when someone does not recognize the Gypsy origin of some celebrities, for example, the group "Gypsy Kings". They also have their own humor, here is an anecdote from the website of some Gypsy activist:

"And a gypsy joke:
"They say Ronnie Wood is a gypsy!"
- Who says?!
- Wood says!!!"

I don't know who Wood is. But they write that this is one of the three most common Romani surnames.

By the way, the site is called "Under the wolf's sun".

If I were a cop in US I would find a different job..

If I was in a populated area I sure would. After the incident in Ohio I told my sister to tell her husband to leave a certain minority alone if he were to have a reason. It just isn't worth it. He like alot of cops resigned from the emergency response last summer.

I thought we weren't allowed to call them gypsies anymore,
Wrong.
Gypsies are proud of their name. There is also a cigarettes in France, called Gitanes.
In spanish, word is Gitano.
This has never been an issue

I really need to stop thinking about “what’s next” cuz the news keeps beating me to it.

When comes the day they raise the SS age to 85 so we have to keep working to pay for all this?
If it is still there to collect at all ?
Ive been saving in a stock account and an ira. But looks like they want to come get more of it now too !
Theres just no winning ! Lol

Watch until the end.

such police assaults there are with us at the moment frequently. There are harmless pensioners !!!! beaten to the ground because they do not want to understand the Corona measures like / can.
In Berlin and other major cities in Germany, we have enough Arab and North African gangs where the honorable police do not dare to enter out of fear to provide there finally for order, as it would actually be their mission.
Black, left-wing blocs are allowed to set fire to cars with impunity under police supervision! I'm only thinking of the World Economic Summit in Hamburg.
Or on a Friday Ramadan once at noon a mosque search because there is not always only prayed................
And the police sometimes treat people without masks like criminals
What kind of country have we become?

I'm still waiting for that "return to normalcy" the Biden voters were talking about before the election.

How interesting. In 1973 a business associate of my parents who owned a bicycle shop sold a Gitane Super Corsa full Campagnolo to me for my trip to University. It was a really great bike although I didn't have it very long because some local rats stole it. Rather than replace it I spent the insurance money on a Browning Superposed, which the local rats were unable to separate from me. I miss that bike- I guess they are considered collector items now- a fact I'm sure is not appreciated by the rats that stole it.

I spent the insurance money on a Browning Superposed,
Hmm. And it was not cheap then, probably more than 1000?

California just gets weirder and weirder. I'm guessing the Kardashians will campaign for Bruce/Caitlyn.

Caitlyn Jenner, the former Olympic athlete-turned-transgender activist and reality TV star, has declared her intention to run for California governor in the looming recall race to unseat incumbent Democrat Gavin Newsom.

In a website launched Friday, Jenner says: "I'm In! California has been my home for nearly 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision."

Hmm. And it was not cheap then, probably more than 1000?
Both the bike and the gun were about the same price in 1973, as I recall they were both within a few dollars one way or the other of $1200 retail. I think they both have about the same present day value - just that the govt has kind thoughts toward the bike but considers the gun to be evil.

With regard to the California recall election- how does the ballot work?

I presume the current governor will be on the ballot and then others?
So if Newsome is the only Democrat and there are three or four Republicans plus several other parties- the vote gets all split-up and Newsome remains governor?
