What animal do you fear most? And why?

Good point on the two legged predators, early 90s in National City a whole group of those two legged predators chased us for being "there" and a different color. Thank the Lord for that taxi squealing in and rescuing us when he did. Yes I was scared. A know your surroundings and situational awareness lesson driven home hard.

I delivered to a walmart store in national city about 20yrs ago. I never cared for the area. I guess the store looked nice enough though. Lol

Lion. They are big and strong and well equipped. Think Tsavo. Once at Tiger Bay resort the kids were all in the tent next to ours. The grunting and snarling began at about 8pm and I shouted to them to do up the laces on their tent and pile up the suitcases. It sounded like it was just ourside their tent, on the far side from us. So I started a fire just outside our tent, burnt some paper, then the box that the spare prop came in, and when there was nothing else I burnt all my underpants. Just as the last flames were dying and the grunting still there I remembered the can of insect spray - makes a terrific flame thrower. Whoosh, huge balls of flame into the night and the lion took off.
Next day we learned that it was a lioness and she went into the main camp pub and took a mounted tigerfish off the wall - she must have been starving for some reason. They shot her.
Yes, I was very scared!
Sounds like a heck of a night !

Definitely Eukarya Animalia Chordata Mamallia Primate Hominidae Homo Sapiens, Female-scorned or not! Their legendary expense can put an end to many a Safari...Other than that, the more you're immersed in Nature, you learn to appreciate and respect all of its creatures (even the mambas, spitting cobras, rattlesnakes, etc.) and stop fearing them.

Redheads scare the shit out of me when single - as its all going to happen again !

I would say the only one I'm irrationally scared of is larger spiders ( not a fan in general). Have never seen a scorpion wild and in the flesh but believe those would not work well for me either. On my one and only trip thus far to RSA a member of the group found a rather large spider in their sleeping quarters and I was just glad it wasn't me. I believe I would have taken my chances in the land cruiser or the lodge couch after that

Back in the 80s when I was station at Castle AFB, CA. I had the pleasure to go to Edwards AFB on a inter base soccer championship. We were warned about the rattle snakes & tarantulas. I found one the size of a 6" diameter plate. Since I was in my early 20s and bullet proof (except roaches), I picked up the tarantula and released her in the yard so she could scare someone else. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: I wouldn't pick one up now, but not afraid either. Age makes you wiser......some times :ROFLMAO:

Nope! Not now. Not later. Not f'n ever.

My ex-wife and my current wife are both red heads from California.

I fell into that trap long ago.

Never been to Iceland but I have been to Norway. I could easily make the same decision on wife number 3 if I was there.

Must say I have never encountered an animal, reptile or insect that really scared me. Have been surprised. Tented in bear country, bluff charged by grizz with cub and black bears more than once. Hunted buff and ele in thick Zim Jesse, really excited me but not scared, same for follow up on leopard in dark. Still waiting for dam Covid to end to see if lion scares me. I do have ultimate respect for any specie that can and will hurt you so give them their space needed. No reptile worries me, even picked up the kitchen stove cobra in Namibia against my PH recommendations and after he had me shoot its head off. Will handle any insect, ticks have gotten me, again not scared just remove them, now swarms of any biting insect really pisses me off as they travel miles to eat me but do not scare me.

Heights do not scare me, hunted goat and sheep in some bad terrain but what does scare me stiff is stepping off a ladder on to a roof?

The 2 inch drop when walking along stageing where the planks overlap has stopped my heart more than once.

Not easily frightened...but the black mamba gives me the creeps..for obvious reasons..

Ticks as @Fabnosh stated above, and I'll throw in chiggers. I know several people who've gotten Lyme Disease from ticks. A very debilitating disease.

I spend more time spraying clothing, gear and just about everything else. Then doing the end of the day tick check with a headlamp and mirror. Although it's fun when my wife is on the trip and we use the "let's go check for ticks" as our signal. It can be fun checking for ticks.
