Thanks for posting this Buff-Buster.

No problem Jerome. Unfortunatly, my hippo is in limbo right now!

Sorry to hear. Please keep us posted.

Wow, from the best hippo location in Africa, and at this point in time possibly the largest Ellephant in Africa, am I noticing a patern here....

My best always.

This was breaking news at the SCI convention.

Others hunters is appears that if they did not get there hippo out by December it is sitting in limbo.

Was there apparently missed the memo...

My best always

tom mentioned it in his moz croc/hippo hunt offer. it was talked about in reno, but at the time the people i knew didnt know the reason.game depts not keeping their cites paperwork up to date causes problems, zambia had the same thing with crocs a few years ago for awhile, and there are plenty there ,but the game dept hadnt filled in their paper work and that was it till they managed to correct the "oversight".........problem is it didnt get sorted overnight so i hope the moz lot get this sorted faster , but i wouldnt hold my breath.

This issue seems to be due to Recommendations of the Standing Committee at CITES.
According to a "Notification to the Parties" Geneva, 25 September 2012.

It appears this recommendation will affect the exportation of Hippo trophies from Mozambique and Cameroon as well?

Buff-Buster,
Best of luck in getting your Hippo trophy home. Must be very frustrating to say the least....

I am in touch with some "people on the ground" (my Moz outfitter and trophy shipment people) and there is some optimism that this will be handled in short order. That might be wishful thinking but I am a positive guy. And I think it' affects more than just the good ole USA, CITES trade suspension would affect all countries who participate in CITES....

Thanks Nathan. Yes is is frustrating. Hopefully they will have it sorted out before too long. The biggest frustration lies in the attitude of USFWS toward the American hunter. What they have been doing with foreign trophy shipments for the last year or so is not only causing frustration, it's affecting the whole industry, especially for Africans dependent upon hunters from the states. Alot of people are looking at staying at "home" instead of hunting in Africa and dealing with USFWS to bring their trophies home. In the long run, conservation efforts suffer.

What do you expect from USFWS...it is controlled by the administration in power. They would like nothing better than to stop all hunting and gun ownership, conservation be dammed.

Agreed. The SOB is making no attempt to hide his dislike of hunters and gun owners.

Real sorry to hear about your hippo Wes Hope they can get this crap straightened out and you get it home so I can check it out when I come visit.

Thanks Bob. I guess the mascot for the "Hippo Bar" will have to wait awhile! You could come on down and we'll have a few drinks while we wait....lol
