COVID-19 Coronavirus UPDATES, BANS, CLOSURES, ADVISORY, etc.

Sorry if this has already been brought up, I'm seeing mixed requirements around the web (go figure right?) But is seems Namibia only requires a test within 7 days of arrival.

This is from the US Embassy Windhoek website which was updated this week. Can anyone confirm?

I'm headed there in less than two weeks and I'm playing the "Might have to get an extra test and spend the night in OR Tambo" game right now.

A good friend and PH tested positive at the Bots/Zim border and was sent home to quarantine. He was on his way to conduct a big hunt in Zim and has had to get someone else to stand in for him. He is non-symptomatic.

Understand the rules and be prepared for contingencies if you choose to go.

Trying to brother!!!

It's hard with so much conflicting info out there, I mean the airline customer service I spoke with even gave me something different than what I posted here. I figured the .gov websites would be the most accurate.

@Corey0372 You're putting your trust and faith in the WHAT? The GOVERNMENT??? :E Lol:

For those traveling with groups, a SO or hunting buddy, what's your game plan if one of you tests positive and has to quarantine in an African country? Leave them there and go ahead or stay behind?
This is a gotcha, I haven't seen anyone mention but it needs to be addressed. Going to cross post this on the appropriate thread(s).

My two sisters are travelling with me for our already postponed hunt set for June-July this summer, hunt is followed by a 2 week driving all over SA tour after. This is a real concern, and possibility/probability? we have talked about, if its me,=no issue they come home, my one sister, same no issue we would go home but my other sister, I would NOT feel good leaving her in Africa, she is not a world traveller with experience. It would be after the hunt so no Outfitter responsibilities remain. Just another stupid Covid wrench in what is supposed to be an exciting time.

Good point for all in this situation to sort out.

Right now I would be more afraid of a false positive test, within 72 hours of leaving for Africa!
The biggest farce is still having quarantine if you have been fully vaccinated! Is the vaccine effective or is this more bullshit!
Biggest crime against humanity, Covid-19!

My doctor told me you can still test positive and be a carrier after vaccination.

There would be lots of contenders for biggest farce in this affair.

In Canada, where our government says it "follows the science" they have now decided to wait four months between the two shots, rather than the recommended one month apart. Why are we doing this? Because doing so will allow the government to "vaccinate" twice as many people with the same amount of vaccine as they would have otherwise. Thus Canada's failure to secure vaccine in a timely fashion can be hidden! Science is so helpful!

Here's another contender for 'biggest farce.' The EU has secured millions of doses of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine, but it was recently determined that that vaccine should not be given to people over 65. So those millions of doses are to be used for people under age 65. But the EU has a system for vaccinating people, and under 65's come after older than 65. So even though they have vaccines that aren't of any use to the over 65s, they refuse to use them for thunder 65s. Those vaccines are sitting in warehouses pushing expiry dates . . . .

For what it's worth, Canada has decided that over 65s can get the Astra-Zeneca vaccine, regardless of the science, because the number of people receiving the vaccine is more important than the efficacy of the vaccine for those people.

None of this matters at all though, because "we're all in this together!"

Isn't it nice when science follows the politics?!!

@Hank2211 Who would have ever thought The Theater of the Absurd would come true or has it always been this way?

Yes it’s easy when more than half the people are afraid of their shadow.
I am a 56 year old Canadian in AZ for the winter and will receive my first shot on Wednesday. US made Pfizer vaccine, no third world Ganges river water vaccine.
I am only getting it to travel, as I worked hard since I was 16 to enjoy retirement before an health issues prevent it.
It’s looking more and more like that’s going to be the only way one will be allowed to leave home is with proof of vaccination!

I wish all you right thinking Canada citizens would move here to the U.S. Between the gun bans, the covid restrictions and the whack job you have for a government leader, we would welcome you with open arms.
