Have a nice Ruger African in 275 Rigby. Only 250 made. Nice looking rifle. Got it to save money on ammo and practice with a bolt gun with open sights. Ended up selling my big bore. My 11 year old son and I have been doing more and more coyote hunting. Something we enjoy together. Selling to fund him a AR for coyotes. $1550

rifle stored in a humidity controlled safe.

might do some trading for a AR or AK

Glock 20
Ruger mk4 22 semi auto pistol
Tikka in 7mm
22-250 bolt gun

I realize this is a very late reply to your for sale notice, but I have been looking for one of these for a long time and this website and your post appeared on a web search. Can you tell me if you ever sold it, and if not, is it still available?
Thanks

Looks like he has not been on the site since last summer...

Thanks-
I saw that when I put the initial message out there, but thought it would be worth giving it a shot. People’s circumstances change- maybe he’ll be back at some point, maybe it won’t have been sold, and maybe I’ll still be trying to find one.

Keep watching all the auction sites. I saw 1 a month ago but didn't want it bad enough to pay the asking price.
I bought one in 6.5x55 instead for $900

There does seem to be a big difference in pricing between the 6.5 and the .275.
Availability as well-
How do you like yours so far?

6.5s have always been less expensive on the after market. The demand has always been there for the .275. 275s came out in 2017, the 6.5s came out in about 2018. These are Lipsey guns. You need to do your research when you start looking for a high demand rifle, even Lipsey Rugers.

Love mine in 6.5
Shoots just over an inch with every cheap factory load I've tried in it so far.

You’re exactly right about both doing the research and about the demand being different for each chambering. The 6.5’s do show up for sale more frequently than the .275’s. I’m sure that helps to account for the difference in value.
I’ve had both calibers in the past. Because it seemed like a good idea at the time, or because of temporary need, I let them all move on to someone else. At this stage of my life, I’d like to get one high quality .275 and hang into it. The Rigby highland stalker is out of my budget, but the ruger african would be perfect- if I can find someone who is willing to let go of one!

You can't compare a Highland Stalker to a Lipsey Ruger African in .275. They don't share the same company. But if you do find one for sale that is in like new condition, expect to pay around $1500 to $1800 for it, even though they were about $900 new. I bought one when they first came out. Eighteen months later I was offered $1600 for it even though I had never advertised it for sale. So I sold it. You can still fine the same rifle in 6.5 x 55 also known as a 6.5 Swede for $900 or so, and don't have to look nearly as hard!

Thanks for all the good info-
I’m going to continue to look. I’d prefer to hold out until I can find a .275 in the best possible condition, but I’m not getting any younger!

There are other Rugers in the caliber that are easier to find. Unless it's the African specifically that you want.
I just picked up a 275 here on the forum built on a vz24 action with a shilen barrel. I swapped in a timney trigger and restocked it with a boyds walnut. All in with rings and a scope I already had in under 1k.
Haven't had a chance to try it out yet for a couple more weeks.
Bolt was not yet inletted in the first couple photos.

Nice rifle, Wade- thanks for sharing the photos.
I am specifically looking for the Ruger African. Even though it is not exactly what I am looking for- I wish they would have put express sights on it- but other than that it’s what I have in mind.
I have a Whitworth Mauser in .375 that I am very pleased with. The Ruger African is very similar-

I have the Whitworth 375 also. So totally understand.
It's why I ended up the the 6.5 african.

I recently picked up a No 1 in .275 from a member. It is shooting sub 1/2”
Groups with my pet reload. If you like single shots you may find one out there. It was that rifle that caused me to sell the VZ24 to Wade, setting a new speed record for a sale on AH! 4 7x57’s was one too many!
