Politics

"Good, honest, conservative" candidates won't appeal to a broad spectrum of citizens any time in the near future.

Even accounting for the war between the states, there has always been a very broadly held idea of what The Good is: thrift, industry, modesty, restrained government.

Sgt Zim I think there is a big chunk of America who liked Trump’s results but not his mouth. He was quick to personally attack those in his employ who did not agree with him after he fired them. Humility in leadership was a foreign concept to DJT.
I believe he lost the election due to this and America will be ready for a new conservative leadership in 2022 and in 2024.

I see your points but wouldn't you think a guy who barely won last time would have done otherwise? I know he's on the right side but WTF was he thinking? Right, wrong or indifferent, politics is all about perception. He did 'fess up and say he shouldn't have skedaddled. I'll bet this will come back to bite him in the ass the next election.

Well, the race was close - Cruz won by 200K+ votes, 50.9 to 48.3%.

But.

It was the urban counties - Harris (Houston), Dallas, Travis (Austin), Bexar (San Antonio), Tarrant (Ft Worth), and El Paso - which really turned out the vote for the Irish Mexican; and of course the border counties. There are 254 counties in this state, the Irish Mexican won 32 of them. In the counties Cruz won, earning 80-95% of the vote was pretty common.

There was a massive D wave riding on a lot of out-of-state D money for that election cycle. It unseated a lot of entrenched republican offices which haven't been democrat since I moved here in 1991. And yet with all that, Cruz still won.

Fort Bend county (pop 750K), where I live, Tom DeLay's home, the reddest of all red counties in the United States back then, flipped blue in 2016.

We have got to stop concerning ourselves with what looks bad. To the useful idiots, asserting that people should be able to keep more of their money, or that they should be able to own any gun they want and as many as they want, "looks bad."

Lots of Asians have moved here in the last 20 years. So many have moved here, in fact, Houston is now the most ethnically/nationality-diverse city in the country. The Asians mostly seem to think they can vote for a better sort of turd than the elected turds who made their former countries such stinking shit holes that they left for here.

I say all of that to get folks to understand why Cruz "eked out" a victory over the Irish Mexican. From my POV, Cruz crushed him. It is the people moving here (from India, Pakistan, China, Indonesia, and Central America) who've changed things. The democrats understand well that politics is downstream of culture. It's why they so gleefully support the immigration of people who do not share our cultural heritage.

@sgt_zim , Do you see much immigration from California? Some, but not all, carry the government is the answer disease with them. We have that here in Delaware. NY, NJ and MD liberals moving here. The liberal Dems control all of state government and are afflicted with the same disease. The immigrants flee one financial and fiscal pandemic, then start another.

Yeah, there's quite a bit from both NY and Cali.

On my team, we have a Christian from southern India (where the Portuguese settled and had a colony), a guy from Cali, and a 1st gen American, whose parent immigrated to NYC from Pakistan.

All 3, staunch democrats. The guy from NY even said they moved down here because he didn't want to raise his family in NYC.

the emigration from California and I suspect New York obtained critical mass in the 1970s and was initially due to real estate prices. During the previous decades people had moved from various states to California. This caused housing prices in California to increase. Homes that in San Francisco sold in the mid 60s for $33K jumped to several hundred thousand by 1980 and are currently over 1 million. Average houses in the less extreme areas areas such as San Bernardino that had sold for $20K were now selling for $300K by 1990. This was happening at a time when housing up the Pacific Coast in Oregon and Washington had remained fairly stable. Hundreds actually, thousands of people figured out that they could sell their California home and buy an equivalent or better home in Seattle or Portland and have a couple hundred thousand to pocket- possibly buying another house for rental income or buy a business. These immigrants to Oregon and Washington brought their politics with them. Prior to 1960 Oregon & Washington were strongly Republican states but the doubling of the population from Democrat immigrants has changed all aspects of the political realm to Democrat.

Now the pricing is repeating, the influx to Portland and Seattle has put housing prices to levels where the owner can sell the Portland or Seattle house and buy another in Bend, OR or Boise. ID and repeat the process. So look for politics in Idaho to shift to Democrat in the next few elections. The situation is also occurring as noted in Texas and Florida with immigrants from California and New York.

It could be asked Why are just the Democrats and not Republicans choosing to move? I suspect it is due to the professions and values of the individuals. A significant portion of Republicans are small business owners and as such are not able to uproot their business and plant it hundreds and thousands of miles away. Additionally they value stability of family and friends and choose to maintain relationships over the chance to make a fast buck. The Democrats seem to be less inclined and are more mobile in the search for a higher paying job or individual gain. Several see moving as a benefit. So they take the opportunity, leave friends and move on to new friends whom are actually just acquaintances because self-interest prevents the development of the bonds necessary for true friendships..

Next rant-
On seeing the news that teaching mathematics was a form of White supremacy my initial reaction was that the propagators of the nonsense had hidden motives designed to keep those students from developing the skills necessary to compete in the world and as such make them dependent on the government for their welfare.

But on second thought it seems to me that the education system has changed. Previously science and humanities were taught side by side and each complemented the other- just like a good shotgun or DG rifle. a student would learn understanding of both the how and the why of things. But recently their was a split. the how side of learning was getting the credit for advancements in science and technology, which led to increased standards of living for all and the why teachers felt they were getting ignored. Rather than show what the why ads to life, the why side chose to attack the how side. The tools of how (math, science, engineering) are discredited as being irrelevant and destructive, claiming that such precision is not necessary. After all, if the relationship between people is paramount then all the details will be irrelevant.

While the end result will be the same, ie the students following the why only path will end up with a large college debt and no marketable skills, and thus dependent on the state for support, i have come to accept that the teachers of "why only" actually believe that their agenda will benefit humanity. Unfortunately for humanity, the "why only" folks are presently in charge. Such the pity.

IDK amigo. Around here, people who liked Trump's results voted for him in spite of his theatrics. Very difficult for me to imagine someone who actually liked Trump's results and then voted for "MBNA Joe" Biden.

Regardless of initial intentions of government and media, I wonder if all these people who have bought into and played along with this will finally begin to wake up and realize the MSM and Saint Fauci are now truly playing them?

Most young people already have had covid. Whats this South African variant? All the places in the world they come up with this. Maybe should call it the anti hunting variant.

Excellent....but he will join the list of hundreds if not thousands of other experts who didn't spout the official mantra and were 100 % or more if that's possible...ignored/shouted down and ostracized..... :E Shrug:

All part of the UN plan for the Great Reset.
I used to think that this was bullshit but now?
The numbers don’t add up to destroying the world economy!

If I were an airline traveling to SA or Namibia or other huntable countries in Africa I would be bend over backwards to accept his terms with firearms, delete all fees and welcome those hunters with open arms and limited restrictions and paperwork...what the hell do they think they are going to do with a bolt action or double firearm and 100 rounds of ammo, they will never access the firearm until they are at their destination. Airline income, local airport economy for layover after a zero for the last year from those traveling to Africa, europe, etc to hunt.

Idiocy knows no bounds

If this is not racism I don’t know what is...

Imagine the outrage if you put a “try to be less black” or “less asian” sign on a product.

Definitions of racism:

prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized

Or

the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another

The sign on this can is very racist, and it targets my race in particular. I’m very offended.

I see Coca Cola has moved on to act 2 of the project to ruin their company - act 1 was when they changed to formula for Coke in the 80s & called it improved New Coke. They just about went bust then, now if all those that are offended by being told to be less white change to Dr Pepper, coke may get a message.
