Hey everyone,
I'm new here and have been hooked on all these cool hunts but have a couple that really peaked my interest. I really want to try and hunt the world bovine species, I was just wondering if there is a bovine slam through the sci or something similar?
The list of bovine I have includes bison (plains, wood, or european), tibetan yak, water buffalo, cape buffalo, banteng, and vancouver/scrub bulls. Do you know of any others?
Thanks!

Good question.

Not sure for other continents, but your quest bovine slam, from african perspective will not be easy to accomplish, 5 species or subsepesies in Africa:

- Cape Buffalo Syncerus caffer
- Nile buffalo (Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia)
- Central African Savannah Buffalo (Central African Republic, and Cameroun)
- West African Savanah Buffalo (West of Nigeria, above forest zone)
- Dwarf Forest Buffalo Syncerus caffer nanus (west and central African rainforests)

Does SCI makse any slam on bovines, or specifically african species, I dont know. But actually there is 5 species or subspecies, covering most of subsaharan africa, and some od those is hard to hunt. This is definitively very hard to accomplish practically and financially.

Interesting to hunt would be asiatic GAUR, biggest bovine in the wolrd, but to my knowledge, at this moment there is no options for legal hunt of this one. Despite the fact, gaur is not endagered. Its natural habitat in Asia is mostly closed for foreing hunters, and few oufitters offering hunt in other places are no longer offering, as per my earlier research, But at one point, gaur was also possible to hunt, introduced, on some farm(s) in south africa, and I think, even in Texas.

Ya I know its not an easy task but its a good goal to try for. For african species I want to get a cape buffalo and the central african savannah buffalo.

Do you mean the subfamily Bovinae in general, which would include several species of antelope like the elands and kudus? Or just the cow-shaped ones in the tribe Bovini?

Where have you seen the Guar being offered in Texas?

Lots of these where I live, but I think I would be hanged for rustling if I shot one. Think I'll stick to buffalo.

Gives whole new meaning to dangerous game hunting

Don't know about the placid Herefords but I know of a couple of Jersey bulls that I would like to put a 400 grainer through.
