It had been 10 years since my last fishing trip to the state of Sinaloa in western Mexico near the coast, I have had tremendous fishing trips down there in that era, I even had my bass boat there for 3 years straight and went as often as work permitted, and then I got married, quitted bass tournament fishing and started a family, but all the time I heard the reports of my fellow colleagues that went to Sinaloa and returned with great tales of massive bass or great numbers, 100 bass a day, etc., The last five years with the hurricane that overflew el Salto and the events at Baccurato and the general sense of insecurity, all fishing came to a halt, every year that went by since then I only speculated and dreamed about the unspoiled waters that no one was hammering, the tranquil bass that should be growing strong and unaware of the sting of iron, the submerged points with deep drops nearby with no boats around and the lone log in a flat with no senkos pounding it. I knew what was brewing; you could almost taste the smell of big bass on your hands.
I was reminded of the insecurity issues in the state of Sinaloa but in reality I could not find anything regarding tourist or fisherman and I could not wait any more so last week I decided to go.
Ohh boy was I right to go, the first day we (2 fisherman) caught 9 bass over 8.8 pounds. Biggest one was 12.6 pounds. The second day we caught 12 bass over 8.8 pounds. Biggest one was 11.3 lbs. and the last half day we caught 2 more over the magic 4 kilo mark of 8.8 pounds. In total 23 bass over 8.8 pounds in 2.5 days. I know that what you really want to see are pictures so here they are.
