I got thinking this evening watching a glorious sunset about the magnificent beauty of the animals we hunt. Do a search on this forum on 'most beautiful antelope' and the results go on and on and clearly all hunters find their quarry beautiful. But if we were to crown just one, limiting it to Africa for now although the world has many, what would the winner be? Grace, poise, proportion, markings, horns - so much to love. So, what is your choice?
@kevin Peacoke
I chose a few animals the impala is a beautiful animal, the kudu is majestic and hard to hunt. The Oryx has face and colourful face but my favorite has got a face only a mother could love but for some reason I find them beautiful in their own way the black wildebeest.

My impala that I real fell in love with and my black wildebeest. My old kudu. Unfortunately I can only afford to get 2 mounted it will be my Kudu and impala my others will be skull mounts but will still have pride of place

I don’t know, the guy in the blue shirt kinda ruins the pic don’t you think?
:giggle: (Payback is wonderful!)

Seriously though, you could maybe get the cape tanned for the others and display or store them. Then one day if it works out you could still mount them.
Just sayin;)

You mean the rugged looking outdoors type with the rifle chambered in a great plains game caliber the 35 Whelen. He looks the epitome of ruggedness to me..
The 2 I'm getting mounted will do. A zebra throw bed cover and black wildebeest rug will look nice tho.

Gemsbok. Their coloration is so amazing.
@Tra3
My PH loves stirring the pot when someone asks him what the difference is between a gemsbok45 and an Oryx he just smiles and says "one has got a black and white face and the other has a white and black face." Has an internal chuckle while they figure it out.

I think I have similar tastes. Especially with the one word description that was included. I think the Springbok and Impala would be in the same category, and the little Steenbok would be pretty. Or cute. LOL

@RMC and others
But what y'all got agin the but ugly but beautiful in its own way the magnificent black wildebeest.

That falls under the “go ugly early” mantra that a old friend of mine followed at a local bar when we were in our mid 20’s and single. Lol.
@Lee M
Ugly deserves to be loved as well. Hell my wife even loves my ugly dial but I did shoot her swing eye dog and stole her white cane

I'm confused. I thought that was a picture of the black wildebeest he was talking about. You know, the one with the "face that only a mother could love"?

Sable looks to be the winner so far, and sure enough it is the most common antelope on national coats of arms and crests. I cant wait to get my mount back to hang in the study, a few months yet.

The black wildebeest skull and rug work nicely, though I will get a head mount black wildebeest if I ever go after one again. I find them far more interesting than the blue.

Sable and Gemsbok are #1 and #1a for me.
Red Hartebeest a close second for being so interesting (aka ugly).

Yellow-backed duiker!

The yellow-backed duiker is a forest dwelling antelope. They are found mainly in Central and Western Africa.

They are huntable in cameroon, congo brazzaville, Central african republic (currently CAR isn't huntable due to conflicts and political instability), also in northern kafue, zambia.
