I just checked Midway and grafs for Nosler .308" 220gr Partitions; both listed Out of Stock. However the Nosler site has them of sale as Overstocked, so is there a reason the manufacturer would have an abundance but the retailers don't want to stock it?

Sounds like my experience trying to buy ammo lately. I tried to order from couple places that said "in stock" but when I went to check out it said item isn't available to order. I don't know what is going on

Midway is one of the most popular on-line shopping sites, thus it's always out of stock (esp. in 2020.) Same for Cabela's etc. 'Went to Cabela's near me recently and the store was nearly cleaned out of guns, ammo, reloading supplies. Try the less popular places and you'll find success. You'll also find Larry Potterfield on his island somewhere :p Natchez? From Nos directly? Good choice in bullet weight/SD! Lotta Oryx taken w/ 'em in Namibia. Hemmingway shot Everything with 'em, including Buffalo! 220 is def not the most popular bullet weight for 30 in America, but it certainly is a wise choice for Moose/Big Bears and of course African PG. They may not stock a lot of it.

You can thank Antifa/BLM, advertising, et. al. (and simply wanting to get away from COVID for hunting) for yet another panic sale. Evertime someone invents another 6.5mm cartridge that does what all priors have done, there goes the handloading supplies! I simply stock up on larger quantities when i see what i use. Went to Cabela's to get 140 NPs for 7mm-that's about the only NP that was left on the shelf, TG!

Shooter's Pro Shop has them as over-runs, not blemished, for $40 per 50 count. Check them out if you haven't before.

that's where I have an order in process. It just seems strange to me that they would have them as over-run and these other places would have them Out-of-Stock.

When I can't find ammo or components at Midway or other mainstream suppliers, I look on Gunbroker. There are 6 boxes available from a place. I sort of scratched my head when looking at the two listings: Same vendor, same bullets, big price difference????? Free shipping with the higher priced ones.

It's interesting that Nosler has them on their website for $48 per 50 ct.

Try finding Small pistol primers

If you sort on the "Buy Now" option and list low to high price, there are some small pistol mag primers for $125/1000 and small pistol for $160/1000 plus $25 shipping.

yep.. reloading stuff is out of control...

try cabelas.. I've gotten lucky the last couple of times I have gone in to my local store..

they have been short on primers.. but have managed to get most projectiles re-stocked.. and have had decent powder options on the shelves the last few times I've been in the store.. to include common pistol powders and fast burning rifle powders that are normally used for 556, etc (what everyone is completely out of lately)..

Theyve got a good supply of dies on hand.. and other tools as well... and havent been price gouging.. all of their prices have remained the same since the panic buying started..

One would think that all these companies that manufacture this stuff would increase production. Even if that means having to add on to facilities and invest in extra manufacturing equipment. They are stepping over a dollar to make a dime. Even when things somewhat return to “normal” they still can’t keep up.
Try getting Varget, sheesh. It’s like gold. I was set up on Midway to notify me when it came in stock. From the time I got the email to the time I logged on to buy some it was already sold out again.
This whole thing is ridiculous, I blame the manufacturers more than anyone on this shortage. From the day Obama was elected his first term to now there has been poor supply. That’s been 12 damn years. In that time one would think these places would have invested in growing their businesses.

Demand is way up and it's quite likely that COVID has hampered manufacturers throughout the ammo supply chain. I've noticed 223/5.56 and 9mm prices are crazy stupid. I might buy a 40 or 45, just cause the ammo is more available and at somewhat normal price.

During the Obama ammo shortage, I bought a little Ruger 380 LCP and it took something like 6 months to finally get some ammo for it. Once I got some ammo, I shot it and hated everything about that little gun. Grip is too small, trigger pull too long and recoil is no fun.

Ive read that some manufacturers are intentionally not increasing production.. because after the last couple of panic buys, they ended up getting stuck with a lot of merchandise on the shelves that they couldnt move for a while after the panic ended.. so this, combined with limited personnel availability during COVID lead them to just keep manufacturing at "normal" rates...

Not sure if thats true or valid for everyone.. But I got that direct from 1 person that works in the ammo industry.. and then read similar statements at a couple of different places online

Thankfully I've made a habit of buying stuff anytime I see it go on sale or clearance over the last few years.. and/or just picking things up to a bit of excess every now and then (need 50 308 TTSX for example.. but buy 200 "just because").. and I've finally gotten myself into a position where I probably have enough of most everything to get me through until I take a dirt nap (with the exception of a few items)..

I was woefully short on large pistol primers recently.. I just havent had the need to keep many on hand.. the only "large" pistol I have is a .45 ACP.. but then I bought a 458 SOCOM rifle.. and, wouldnt you know it.. the damn thing uses LPP...

Thankfully a buddy that got out of reloading a few years back had 5,000 winchester LPP on hand.. he sold them to me for $30 per 1000 (more than fair deal).. and another guy traded me 1,000 S&B LPP for something I didnt need... So I should be set there for life (I dont see me shooting 6,000 458 SOCOM.. and I've got enough 45 ACP already on hand to get me through the next several years..

Now I just need a few hundred more 458 300gr projectiles (not too hard to find most of the time).. and I think I'll be good for a long, long time..

Oh I understand why we have the shortage at the moment. My point is that over the last 12 years its been one panic after another. They should have increased production 12 fold to try and keep up with the ever growing panic demand. They'd made 100x as much money and it would have lessened the panic shortages. They wouldn't even have to release it all until necessary so as not to flood the markets and drive prices down.

I found some 20 gallon drums of 5.56 ammo last year, it was something 15,000-17,000 each for under .25 a round. I was going to buy several, but the building I was going to store them in wasn't finished, so I waited. Really bad idea.

Not always on the ball but can be of some help:
