It’s gonna get worse. You would think they have an obligation under any approval to notify land managers.
Actually why weren’t land managers consulted at the application process?

Its says the permits are ones only that can be issued by the president....and he along with the government dont give a flying fk about anyone or anything but themselves...

Mike, I think they dislike what is happening there.
And not your action or post, for informing forum members about latest developments in Hwange.

Really? Coal mining in Hwange? Lets hope they DON'T find any deposits!! Otherwise there goes another native habitat eradicated, with the resultant displacement of fauna and flora!! And it's if the bloody Chinese haven't screwed everybody up already by inflicting upon the world Covid-19!!

RioZim and China signed a deal in May this year to build the Sengwa power station that will produce 2100 megawatts. They need the coal to keep Hwange and the new plant going. So I don't hold out much hope that any party to the deal will lose interest easily.

There goes another area lost to the Chinese bastards! I truly fear we are the last generation to hunt Africa.

Oh, F#CK!! Thanks for the history, so its' days are truly numbered!!

FWIW I stayed at Nehimba and can recommend the place (before it too goes!!). Superb facilities (all done reminiscent of 1920's decor). Elephants known to drink the water from your shower rose while you're showering, and also to drink from the pool while you're swimming (they get very thirsty!!). In the evenings there's the need for an armed escort from chalet to dining area, because the lion, elephant and leopard walk through the place. Then, finally drifting off to sleep listening to the sound of distant elephant and lion. Hunter's bliss!! (y)

Maybe we will be the first generation to hunt wild Chinese in Africa. They are wily little buggers but any calibre works from .22LR upwards.

An before anyone has a fit I was just joking!!

I prefer snaring them!

This is Zimbabwe we're taking about. Mnangagwa is filling his Swiss bank account with Chinese gold...My advice to the Hwange land managers keep quiet and send their families to SA for a long holiday!

Zimbabwe: Jailed Journalist ‘Gravely Ill’ After Prison Guards Starved Him

Persecution of political dissidents was commonplace under the late dictator Robert Mugabe and his successor Emmerson Mnangagwa has made no attempts to improve his dire human rights record. Following Mugabe’s departure in late 2017, Mnangagwa promised to usher in a new era of prosperity to the troubled country, although his leadership is now effectively indistinguishable from his predecessor.

His victory in the 2018 presidential elections remains widely disputed by internal and foreign observers, while the country’s dire economic predicament has only worsened. Last November, the United Nations warned in a report that Zimbabwe was on the brink of “man-made starvation,” a situation that has since been exacerbated by lockdowns imposed during the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

Zimbabwe Arrests Lawmaker for Distributing Anti-Socialist Masks

Authorities in Zimbabwe arrested an opposition lawmaker Monday for distributing masks demanding the removal of the country’s repressive socialist regime, local media reported.

Police arrested Prince Dubeko Sibanda, who serves as a Member of Parliament (MP) and MDC Alliance Matabeleland North chairman, in the city of Bulawayo for distributing face masks inscribed “#ZanuPFMustGo,” a reference to the left-wing party formerly led by late Robert Mugabe that still rules Zimbabwe by decree.

Zimbabwe: Police Disappear Anti-Government Activists Before Planned Protest

Zimbabwe police have cracked down on anti-government activists in recent days, arresting and allegedly abducting some investigative journalists, South African newspaper the Daily Maverik reported Friday.

Zimbabweans had planned to peacefully protest this week against the government’s alleged corruption in its handling of funds allocated for coronavirus medical supplies and increasing poverty and hunger in the struggling nation. According to the Daily Maverik, the demonstrations were thwarted by an alleged alliance between the ruling party Zanu-PF and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), who deployed security forces to major city streets to prevent Zimbabweans from protesting.

And that's just the Aug headlines...and why I'm not interested in hunting Zimbabwe!

I hope they stop it.
The Chinese are filth ... they are the worst plague on earth.

China: good luck with them. :E Shake Head:

Sad news for Hwange.......I was personally surprised that this park.....founded in the 1928-1930 era by Whites, was not destroyed under the criminal Mugabe. Pleased, but surprised. The country has little to be proud of since 1980. And this may not even be the biggest threat that Hwange is facing........am happy to have seen this area, and I say again: If you have not visited Africa, do so at your earliest opportunity. Change is a-comin.................FWB

Very sad indeed!
