For Sale Custom 416 Taylor On Remington 700 - Houston

Well guess who has ended up with a BLR and a 99? Chewing on doing the .257. The devil in me is yelling to get it. The logical side is telling me to start using the money I’m spending to hunt more.

Just think...once you finally (actually) have time to hunt, your gun needs will be fully covered...from Pronghorns (.257 Roberts) to Cape Buffalo (416 Taylor)!

Yeah that’s all I was lacking. Lol.

Dammit man. Not only has this gun made me buy two others, seeing those boxes made me reorganize my reloading room!!

Working on it!

Currently empty nesters in 3,600 square feet....so I have the room.

But soon (depending on how long Covid rules our world) we will be in a 600 square foot cabin in the Ozarks. We will barely have room for food and clothes!

Anyone want any taxidermy? lol

Stealing the FS ad from when I purchased this rifle during the past summer.

I have been a bad boy and my boss has slapped me around and asked me (lol) to move a gun or two to make up for all the stuff I have purchased recently (actually, I think she knows how much the BVC taxidermy bill is going to be!).

Ray Montgomery in Grand Junction, Colorado built this rifle in 2006.

Specifications are as follows:

Rem 700 Action, Trued by Ray, with custom shroud.
Shilen #5 Chrome Moly Barrel, cut to 22" with protected crown
Remington Trigger w/trigger job (trigger is crisp)
McMillan Sporter pattern stock - Dark Green/White, 13 11/16" LOP w/ 1" Decelerator
Williams Steel 1-Pc Bottom Metal
Action, barrel, and bottom metal matte blue finish by Ray
Caliber marking is very nicely engraved by Ray
Rifle weight with bases is 7.85 lbs. 9.15 lbs with 1-6x Trijicon mounted

I'll include a set of Hornady FL dies

I have only function fired this rifle (about 30 rounds...PO reportedly put about 100 through it). It is very comfortable and manageable. The Taylor is a very efficient cartridge with relatively low powder charges for the power level achieved.

$1,375 plus actual shipping and insurance, with dies and two piece scope bases. I also have 350 various Barnes, Nosler, North Fork and Speer bullets that are available to the buyer at a good price.

Rifle currently wears a Trijicon 1-6X Accupoint which could be included for an additional $800.

I ship from individual to FFL.

All in all, a pretty compact, powerful and sexy rifle.

Let me know if I left anything out. I have not accuracy tested the rifle, but the PO reports sub MOA with his favorite load. I only shot it at 50 yards and it stacks them at that range, as you might expect from a Shilen- barreled and trued M700.
Can you message me if you still have it.

I have several nice rem 700 ADL, BDl and model 7 in different cal’s I will swap you to that one all have work done to them with recrowned and set back. A flutter bdl 30-06 an 70s 270 I went through. A model 7 in 7mm08 and and an ADL 22-250.

/\ I seriously love to hear that!

Glenn: I still have that sling for the 99 - at some point we will find ourselves in the same zip code...or PM me your address and I will mail it!

Excellent caliber. The non controlled round feed 700 should get trigger-happy PHs very excited. Lol a Mauser a win 70 a Ruger 77 or other CRF is a much better alternative for dangerous game hunting. Unless you just want your pH to shoot the trophy for you possibly on top of you, when that gun won't extract a spent cartridge in the hot African Sun.

One more month to go for this EPIC AH classified thread! Keep it up boys!

lol. Classified ads aren't supposed to be epic. They are supposed to be short lived!

gee look another opening for crf vs push feed who ever would of seen that coming up in conversation around here....

It hasn’t hiccuped once in the hot Texas sun. I even put the ammo out in the sun with the gun and had no issue.
What I have had issue with is CRF. So much more picky to me and god help you if you need to get a round on fast. Have to put in mag and then load...

As always, the key is being well-trained with your weapon and knowing it inside and out.

As a Marine, you know that truth well! (y)
