COVID-19 Coronavirus UPDATES, BANS, CLOSURES, ADVISORY, etc.

Don't forget the Beaver Nuggets

Texas is the next California. God bless Kansas and stay away.

I was able to dine out last evening. Every other booth and table is kept empty, all employees wore masks, and the menus were disposable.

This is a pretty reasonable perspective on the BS we've been fed on this matter:

Now with respect to the link above from @spike.t , the following words jumped out at me:

SAGE minutes make it clear that the public was explicitly petrified in order to ensure compliance with lockdown.
SAGE is the UK Government scientific advisory group which is the gold standard for Covid-19 information in the UK.

We shouldn't be under any illusions: Whether it's climate change (yes, the climate changes) or Covid-19, those who want to control our actions will abuse the science, conduct online shaming, and slander those who do not agree with them as "deniers." What they are afraid of, and what they want to take away from us, is nothing more or less than freedom. And in this battle, they have found willing allies among scientists, doctors, governments and those who want to be protected by someone against something.

If you are a reasonably healthy individual (an absence of significant co-morbidities), under the age of about 75, and live on your own, you have a greater chance of dying by lightening strike than you do from Covid-19, and this is after actually coming down with it.

While the political pukes are fighting. Look at the smart money. Who really runs things?

Totally agree. We like our state the way it is without the stupidity rampant in blue states.

Would that be why you Kansans elected your - wait for it - Democrat governor? Just saying.

Kansas has elected a Democrat for governor several times. The state legislator has always been Replubican. That way we insure that not much gets done. Gridlock is better than having a bunch of fools passing a bunch of needless bills. Kelly was also elected because her opponent was anti immigration which the big feedlots and slaughter houses out west didn't like. Them big farmers like cheap labor.

I am not sure what you mean. Besides, this is something to rejoice in, not criticize. The street typically votes the future. What this means is that investors believe that no significant lasting damage has been done to the economy, and that a strong rebound is not merely possible, but now even likely by the third quarter. And that "smart money" supposedly running things are folks like most of us here who have investments in the market - either individually, through mutual funds, IRA's, or 401Ks. And in a sense, maybe you are correct. People are voting their dollars with their brains and are finally tuning out the doom and gloom spread by the MSM. Politico (hardly a friend of conservatives or this administration) published an article just today https://www.politico.com/news/2020/05/26/2020-election-democrats-281470 that a strong rebound is ever more likely and that democrats are dreading it. I find it terrific news that investors are coming around to beieve it as well. It is also revealing where Democrat leadership finds itself - apparently hoping for a destroyed economic system as a route to power.

Yup Hank every government put into action the scaremongering along with the media to scare the shit out of people so they wouldn't blink an eyelid at all the subjugation they have had placed on them.....now the governments have dug themselves into such deep shitholes they need to keep the lockdown in place as long as possible , to avoid having to explain how they managed to destroy their countries economic and social fabrics in a way never seen before.... Simply because they listened to groups of so called experts who mostly have proved they haven't a clue..... And modelling specialists who have somehow proved to be even more useless and inaccurate..... No government ministers in this day and age have the balls to go against it and simply open up everything...... Donald was sort of there...but unfortunately the purveyors of the nanny state have made such an issue over figures that sense has been overridden..... So.....

I saw a report this morning that there are about 25 people jobless for every corona case. A great many of these jobs will not come back even when the virus ceases to be an issue.

Basically what I'm saying that people who get all wrapped up in politics can miss the big picture. I've invested in the market for most of my life. I've been through the tech wreck the financial crisis and now this. Every time I've watched people sell and panic and get left at the station. These big companies can make or break any politician and they know it so I just go for the ride.

I seen the new homes sales report. They were expecting it to be down 20 something percent. It was actually up some. A lot of the jobs lost were the minimum wage and low pay jobs. My stepdaughter was worried about her 401k. I told her don't sell any stock your young and a bear market is your friend.

Looks like a lot more than minimum wage etc people

Well they are evidently to stupid to file for unemployment. It is your state unemployment plus $600 a week from the federal government. Now there are some muchers that work for cash and pay no taxes and some don't have anything better to do but get some free food. That one person in the Mercedes probably don't know how to cook or for that matter how to even shop for groceries. I haven't seen anything like that around where I live.

I'm confused. Do minimum wage, low income jobs being lost somehow not matter?

Kansas rank the 8th best state handling Covid19. Trump congratulated our governor for doing a good job.

If they worked long enough they get unemployment. $600 a week is more than my postal pension.
