I'm in the purging mood and these are headed out the door.

For Sale: 25, 243 and 223 WSSM Winchester Model 70 Coyote

In the pictures from top to bottom are the 25, 243 and 223. The 25 WSSM is the lighter colored rifle more of a nutmeg color. The 243 is always in the middle.

All rifles are at 95%+ condition from new. I bought these several years ago and have never even put a bullet down any chamber.

25 WSSM $815 with the Simons Whitetail 3-9x40 shipped to your FFL IF you don't want the scope, I'll pull it and sell for $775 shipped.

243 and 223 WSSM priced at $725 each shipped to you FFL.

If you're interested, I also have a bunch of brass and dies for each rifle. All brass and dies are brand new.

223 WSSM is still available

All rifles are SPF.

you still have the 223 WSSM
Look at the post above, June 17, 2019 Sold Pending Funds. But I have one I might part with. I have a bunch of brass and dies to go along with it. PM me if your interested.

All rifles are gone, but I did find 2 new bags of 243 WSSM Winchester brass in my stash a few weeks ago that needs to find a new home.

If you don't mind my asking, what was your take on the 223 WSSM?

Thank You

Michael

Fast! Accurate! Definitely the one to choose if you want a flat shooting 223!

I have been thinking on building a fast, flat varmint rifle throated and barreled to handle the heavy 22's. This is one of the ones I've been looking into; along with the 22 CM. The only concern would the fact that if ever there was an overbore cartridge, this is surely it. Question: Did you shoot it enough to be able to speak to the amount of throat wear? Specifically, how much did the throat move? And over how many rounds?
Thank you, Sir, in advance for the information.
Michael

I honestly expected a bunch of wear, but have not experienced enough accuracy loss in the one that I have shot quite a bit to warrant a deep dive into the barrel. I bought two identical rifles with intentions of shooting the factory barrel out and rebarreling for heavy 22’s myself. I gave it hell in the Wyoming prairie dog towns but came up short before I left there. I was doing some accuracy testing on that rifle as I progressed on my goal of ruining a perfectly good barrel. I contribute any of the group deviation to myself or the gentle Wyoming breezes. They were nothing to suggest that I was losing any throat. Unfortunately I haven’t got a chance to mess with them anymore since I moved to Houston. I will one day probably just rebarrel the shooter just to pacify my OCD and move on to the other 5 million things I procrastinated on.
Cheers,
Cody

Thank you, Cody for the considered response. That is precisely the kind of first-hand info I was looking for.

One more question, what was your overall take on the Winchester platform, primarily from an accuracy perspective?

Thank you again

Michael

The accuracy of the heavy barrel Winchester push feeds in my experience were very good. I don’t recall actual center to center measurements but I do remember ragged holes and exploding prairie dogs and rock chucks in excess of 400 meters. If you are interested, I can dig through my load log when I get home and send you the data.
