This guy ( Mr. Rahman ) was my grandpa's PH 60 years ago . If someone tries to frame him because of a stupid mistake l made , then It's my duty to stand up for him . I might not be the most polite guy here and yeah , some times my posts can be a little childish and anger other members , but l won't stand some one trying to paint an innocent guy as a liar when everything that guy says matches with what we ( the international hunting world ) know , as facts.
For example , a few days ago , in one of your interviews , Mr. Rahman made a comment that 12g Slugs won't go usually more that 6 inches into a bengal tiger's body at thirty feet . I had searched EVERYWHERE looking for a book to verify this . I found no evidence supporting it ( because most of us Western hunters who left autobiographies went after 'em with a rifle back in the old days ) , but no evidence contradicting it either , until l started looking into the muscle densities and bone densities of these big kitties . It was only then , that l realized that he's actually right. Slugs work on leopards for body shots but not tigers . You gotta head shoot them .

As for your responses to Mr. Rahman's articles, I fully understand where youre coming from, However I dont think your responses are going to be fully appreciated just yet. like one of the members said: Facts, those inconvenient things that get in the way of a good story.

I am going to personally refrain from a debate, however I would like to clarify a few things here. As far as imported of arms into India, its not BANNED and never have been. A ban would mean no import at all. Import of weapons have been restricted since the early 1980's. This means a license holder must seek for permission to Import. Import permits are given basis a few rules, mainly for sport shooting. I am not claiming its a cake walk but I personally have imported multiple guns in the last few years.

I live in India and take offence to a few things that Mr. Rahman has said. We are a secular democratic country and have been since we got our freedom in 1947. I am sure in time to come, things will get clearer...

I had a word with the author and he is extremely upset that you have used his photographs (WITHOUT HIS PERMISSION). Maybe Hoss Delgado can help you sort this mess out.

I mean no disrespect, but articles and threads remain here for a long long time, and I would definitely not want them to mislead other members who may chance upon this at a later date.

He had put great input in that forum.
We all like his storys and use his (free) content here.
I think it is not fair, to search for one little detail and then "blame him".
If somebody has an good argument (pro and contra), yes, okay, bring it, but please bring it fair. And with style please.

Let’s see, you brought it up and you stated that the 30-06 was still used by the US military. In the spirit of getting “facts” straight, which you and our Indian friend seem obsessed with, I simply noted that was nonsense.

It is interesting to see the passions of the sub-continent playing out in microcosm on this thread. All we need is an angry member of the People’s Republic of China to weigh in. I am not a resident of India, but have visited often on business - usually Delhi. Hunting and shooting, because of my interests, were occasionally a topic of conversation when business matters or politics paled. The destruction of firearms (even most educated Indians seemed to have had no idea of the wonderful armories of the Maharajah class ever existed), the near impossibility of owning a firearm, and the demise of hunting were observations that tracked very closely with Mr. Rahman’s comments.

I must have missed the gunshops. And good luck finding a steak.

When someone struggles with another language, it is difficult to tell if they are being deliberately sarcastic, insulting, or merely obtuse. You'll forgive me if I find it amusing that a German (?) national is determined to lecture an American professional soldier about the arms of his trade. But seriously, what weapon was an American Special Forces soldier carrying that was chambered in 30-06? There is no such weapon type classified in our inventory and no ammunition for such a non-existent weapon. And if we did, a '06 would hardly be a subject of classified information. So I am genuinely curious. What was it and what was its use?

Without any offense, I have to say that this reminds me of some of my crew that came on the rig, after having a successful interview with HR upon sending application for job
Interviewed on job details, and English skills. And passed with flying colors!

Coming on job, they cannot say a word in english, although it is also contractual obligation of theirs.

I will not say nationality to avoid verbal fights. But in such cases telephone interview with hr was always done by relatives, cousins, or friends who speak english, presenting themself as person applying for job.

But, bottom line, telephone call (interview) is not a proof of anything, without positive ID. Video conference, via skype or similar is more reliable, but again not hard proof or evidence of identity.

Such extreme reactions are rarely seen here, (to prove or disprove minor irrelevant details as of 50 years ago, that caused damage to no one, by statements from third persons), extreme reaction, which I find completely without a cause, except it is based on personal grounds, for personal reasons.

But maybe I am wrong. In that case I appologize.

But, I do hope, Sir, that after the dust of this issue settles, that you will remain on the forum and contribute with your good experience, and positive input! India is great country and I am sure we can learn a lot from you!

In the mean time I noticed that you still havent answered my earlier question:
How would you comment on (alledged) fact, that in India in 70-ies, all privately owned imported rifles and guns have been confiscated and possibly scrapped, following hunting ban?
Probably without compensation to owners?

I still own my greatgradfather's .32 bore Browning pistol . The old model .
Yes the quota for owning weapons .....like Atari correctly pointed out was reduced to 3 plus 1 per member of the family (where the plus one was a 22 ) . I retained a big bore rifle, a 12 bore shotgun , a pistol and a ,22 rifle.
As mentioned earlier
All my weapons are imported .
No one is forced to use IOF products
