So, after reading multiple threads regarding taking gun cases through hotel lobbies, anti-hunting employees at airports, etc.....I started thinking, which is normally counterproductive .

I recently acquired an Americase 2 Gun Case (special thanks to @CAustin for guidance). It is similar to the Tuff Pak from the standpoint that it doesn’t overtly appear to be a gun case. Not as discreet as the Tuff Pak, but doesn’t “scream” firearm.

One could further “disguise” this case with simple labels. I haven’t put them on, but the photo shows my concept. I have mixed feelings on this, as “pricey equipment” could perhaps be more of a theft target than a firearm (easier to sell?).

Therefore, asking the opinion of the Learned Experts here on the forum. Good or bad idea?

I thought the same....but wasn’t sure how obvious these tags are, as I haven’t flown with a firearm (yet).

Any tag you put on like “fragile” or “handle with care” turns your case into a competition between the airport goons to see who can throw your stuff the furthest!

I like it.

Depends on the airline. Typically, a nice big red one.

It's also not just how good your case is, it's how you pack your case to keep the firearms from moving around inside it.
The outside of the case will withstand a drop with no problem, but is your scope going to hit the side of the case when it does?
Proper packing is just as important as the case you choose.

South African Airlines tag is HUGE and RED!
Anyone who grabs the handle will know.

Thanks BeeMaa, I agree. I am overly attentive to the packing details. I think you and @BRICKBURN have answered my question on “disguising”. I don’t know, maybe a magnetic sticker just for hotel lobbies might be a good idea...but I’ve never been questioned, even in “higher end” hotels...

Airlines and firearms dilemma is deep, you might want to talk to a legal practitioner for advice.

Saw a Tuffpak in an airport with about a dozen stickers saying Connelly, Rosignol, O'Brien, Solomon, ski naked, etc. Doubt to many people in third world countries want or care about ski equipment.

Have also heard of people having decals saying survey equipment on a gun case. To me that sounds like there could be value if I was a third world baggage handler.

As a guy who used to wander through dodgy bits of inner city Manchester and use public transport with a shotgun to go to the university clay shoots, it's my experience that people don't expect to see a firearm and therefore invariably don't see one.

If I saw that on a baggage cart as a casual observer, I'd think musical instrument, camera equipment, survey stuff etc etc.

The tag might give it away a bit, but people who can recognise what that tag means know what they're looking for anyway, so nothing you can do will fool them, and the average holiday maker wont think twice about it either way.

I wouldn't bother.

Al.

Looks like we’re building a consensus.....anyone need 3 nice, quality stock laser equipment labels?

I have various sports themed stickers on my gun cases. People ask me if I am a musician.

I also vote for no laser stickers. Better to just personalize it with random stickers in my opinion.

Lasers....you are gonna put your eye out with that thing.

My 2¢, It's a gun case and thieves will know it and know what's in it. Aside that, be prepared to pay oversize baggage charges in the amount of what it would cost you to buy a Pelican or SKB case. My observations are those aluminum cases get the hell beat out of them.

Hahahaha....sounds like you know my friends. I’m truly disappointed that 17 posts into this....no smartass has thrown in a Dr. Evil/Austin Powers comment!

Of course not, he hasn't shown us the travel case for the shark yet.
