They were made in 8X57, 9.3X74R, and 45-70. (I had a 9.3 but 'Tarawa' talked me out of it.)
Several of the 45-70's were rechambered into 450 NE #2 . Possibly that is what you saw? There 450 NE 3 1/4 wouldn't work becasue the rim is too thin for the 45-70 rim recess IMO.
..yup,that's for sure. The one I saw (in African Outfitter) was being used as back-up on a DG hunt, and it IS a .450 #2. Any info for me on the caliber..?
It's basicly the same results as a 450 3 1/4 NE or a 470 NE. ,480/500 grns at 2100 fps. It'll do the job. Bertram and Horneber are the only brass selections available for loading.
