Hey looking for load data for 143 grain eld-x for my Tikka t3x in 6.5 x 55 swede cant not find it anywhere online I have the 9th ed Hornady reloading manual but have heard its only in the 10th edition. At the moment I'm using H-4831 sc but am open to different powers if need be.

jeremyk, somebody posted a "smokin" load for a Hornady 143 ELD-X a while back. Do an AH search & maybe you'll be able to find it. I just did a QuikLoad work up for a 24" barreled rifle using IMR 4831 (my program doesn't have the 4831 SC listed) 44.0 Gr (was max) expected velocity was 2719 FPS. Since you are a reloader, you know the drill, start lower and work up.

Thanks ill do a search and see what I can find. I have a bottle of IMR 4831 so may have to try the eld-x with that powder

I have been using the ELD X in my Creedmore with H4350. And in my 6.5 06 with RL22. Great results.

Check your pm box(y)

I use a little north of the published max of IMR4831, with a very long COAL, only about .02 off the lands.

getting almost exactly 2500 fps, but I can stack bullets all day long, same rifle as yours.

hornady's published max is 44.1 gr, I'm at 45.0 and zero signs of pressure.

I love my Tikka! Thanks for the info, yeah I have some IMR 4831 and I’m gonna load i few with that . I normally load my bullets .02 off the lands and get great results. My tightest groups from my Tikka have been from Nosler partitions 140g with 47gr of H4831sc.

I just loaded up a test batch of Woodleigh 160, using H4350 for those. The plan is to go to the range Sunday morning.

More than a few guys are getting in the 2700 fps range with 140s. That's fine as far as it goes, and if you can get there safely, more power to you. But with the degree of precision I'm getting from Hornady, and what I'm hoping to get with the Woodleighs, I'm happy at 2500 with what I have, will be happy at 2400 with the 160s and sub-MOA. The only thing for which I'd feel undergunned in NA with the 160s is the griz.

When I hunt, I like to hunt. I save the long range stuff for my target 308.
