I cant make out the SN but it appears by the various stampings to be an early Whitworth Express, probably from the 70's. I have one that's a bit later with different stampings. The bolt handle looks a little different than mine and others seen.

Yes with the dark walnut stock and the ebony forearm as well as the crossbolt sure looks like a whitworth metal manufactured in Manchester England assembled in Eastern Europe with nice Walnut from that region. I had a 300 win mag and 458 win mag of the same variety and both shot very well... Have you shot it?? This is fancier than the interarms mark x which used American Walnut with no crossbolt. Virtually the same metal.

They are assembled in England on Yugo, now Serbian barreled actions. By "metal" I assume you mean model? Both Mark X's and Whitworths used Euro walnut, but some Mark X's used a stained hardwood in the less expensive models like the Viscount. My Whitworth .375 was bought new in 1984, still have it.

I’m open to offers all I can say is no it will come with weaver bases on it.

Nice rifle. The magazine release inside the trigger guard is the earlier version. I have a Whitworth .375 with the release button on the outside. I love my rifle!

There are a number of subtle differences in the various vintage Whitworth's. I purchased mine new in 1984 and it has a different shaped bolt handle, cross bolt style, front sight and different stampings, especially note that this one states "calibre", English style. Mine simply says Cal. 375 H&H Mag like most I have seen. Mine has Whitworth in an oval on the top of the front receiver ring but not on the side rail as this one does, nor out on the barrel. I assume the pad was replaced on the one shown here, mine still has its original red Whitworth pad. Only the early ones like this show the Interarms Castle stamp on the barrel as well. IIRC the Whitworth was introduced about 1974.
Whitworth marked actions show up on Mark X rifles too, as do the pads. To my mind these are not Whitworth rifles in the same way that this one is or mine. It appears they had Whitworth actions left over and slapped rifles together using what they had.

Sestoppelman,
Yes, I’ve done a bit of research on these rifles. SOMEWHERE either on the barrel, action or butt pad they will have Whitworth vs. the Mark X markings. I believe, as you, this is a very early Whitworth. I also believe, but not positive, the Whitworths have the express sights and barrel band vs. the Mark X. Anyway, I would like to buy one in .458 WM some day, as they are great rifles! My .375 is fairly light (8.5 lbs?) w/o a scope, action is very smooth and very accurate. The stock design is such that it seems to tame recoil really well. I actually like it better than my CZ .458 WM, which is saying a lot for ME, as I also really LOVE my CZ. I’m rambling, but this will be a great rifle for the new owner. I believe the front sight hood is missing on this one. No big deal, mine is loose and comes off sometimes.

Very solid rifle at a very reasonable price, surprised it hasn't been snagged up yet.
Again, where’s Toby 458? His list of owned firearms didn’t show he had one of these? Someone should PM him! Ha! Ha! Ha!

The fact that these Whitworths used in nice condition will bring close to what a New Winchester Safari Grade will bring speaks a lot for the Quality and desirability of these Rifles

You have a PM.
