Can anyone here provide any information on travelling with rifles through Ghana? (Please note, I am not looking to hunt in Ghana at this time but have been looking at connecting flights.) Air Namibia flies directly from Accra to Windhoek now and there are some direct flights to Ghana from the U.S. This appears to be a somewhat shorter and cheaper route to certain parts of Southern Africa.

Would be interested in learning if transitting Ghana with firearms is allowed.

Thanks in advance.

The question is are you staying in Ghana or just making a connection their?

If you have to stay a night to catch your connection the next day you will need the Ghana paperwork.

If your luggage is check through and making a connecting flight. Read what Brickburn has to offer.

I would suggest contacting the Ghanaian Embassy in Washington DC...

My question is regarding the procedure for catching a connecting flight in Accra. The current flight schedules for the various airlines involved are such that an over-night stay is not necessary (either way), which is a definite plus.

I appreciate the links. However, they don't address the specific scenario I am inquiring about, rather, these focus on the process that residents of Ghana must comply with to legally possess firearms. As this is a relatively new travel option, I will submit an inquiry through the Ghanaian Police website and wait to hear from them.

You honestly expect them to be in front of the wave??
If you want to forage ahead into the unknown you'll have to do some work.

No they do not address the specific question because it is a new travel route (as you stated) in a country that is trying desperately to control small arms.

The "Special Permit" will have to be issued through the Ministry of the Interior in Ghana!

Good luck. I hope you find a new trail into Africa. Let us know the result.
