Looking for a reasonably priced double rifle. Caliber and brand dont make much difference, prefer in firing condition but will take something that can be repaired at a reasonable price.

What do you consider reasonable?

You can get a working sabatti for that range. Be careful of the cabelas version, but a newer one could be had in the 4-5k range

No double worth owning is “reasonable” by those standards. No double that can “be repaired reasonably” would ever be sold without first being repaired. Those that need repairs for sale at “reasonable” prices won’t be reasonable once you pay to get them fixed!

Study up, the more you know, the less you’ll want what your advert asks for. Caveat emptor.

You can find a BPE hammergun for around $4500 that is serviceable. (Hard to sell, limited use, expensive to reload) That’s the floor other than the Sabattis already mentioned that have their own issues.

Less than i paid for my 93 bronco haha anything under 3 to 5k ish

Ok. Then as mentioned above “study up”. There are several threads on AH about double rifles. The Sabattis built for Cabelas stay away from unless you can inspect and shoot before purchase.

Just curious, but what type problems do the Sabatti’s have that make them undesirable? A double is not in my immediate future, but for future reference. I’m quite uneducated in the world of double rifles. Thanks in advance.

Although you are asking about a SxS, you might want to consider a Zoli over and under. Reasonably priced new and used.

Google Sabatti double rifle problems and see what you get! Several threads on here as well that discuss the issues in detail.

Will, double rifles in general can be very complicated in buying a used one and 1. learning how to use it, and 2. having it repaired if it is not working properly (as in regulated). My knowledge and use of one is minimal. We have many members on the forum that can be considered experts in double rifles. Buy I would recommend you read up on everything you can find to try and obtain a basic understanding of such rifles. Even when one of our "experts" write a rather long thread on the subject, it is not likely you will comprehend what they are telling you. I say this in that I have a very hard time on occasion understanding these threads myself. No disrespect at all intended toward you.

I was going to suggest a Kreighoff that I know of in .470NE with ejectors for the 8k range... but looks like thats out of your budget....

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
