Witold would be proud of me. Picked up a ZG 47 in 9.3x62. Don't think the bolt is original though. Jeweled bolt & modified bolt shroud with wing type safety. From what I gather from CZ there a very few of these in this calibre.

I have a CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62 as well. Shoots 285gr Lapua Mega's almost through the same hole at 100yds.

I used a cousin of that rifle on my own plains game hunt, a CZ 550 Lux, with great results. Your rifle has a bit more..........pedigree, though. I too am located in Ontario, and I gotta ask, where did you manage to track down that piece?
Nice rifle, enjoy it 8x68!

Congratulations

Congratulations on your fine rifle 8x68! I would love to find one like that.

Oh my gosh, what a beauty. Dittos on the question where did you get it?

Fine looking rifle!

Lovely! When I was assigned to Nairobi in the early 80's, I was lucky enough to get into the Tanzanian "Ivory Room" and while there noticed a bunsh of old rifles laying on the floor of one of the storage rooms. To make a long story short, was able to "acquire" several and get them back to the US. There were three of the original Rigby Magnum Mausers in 404 Jeffers that have gone on to new homes and several that I resurrected and are still in my gun vault. Some were cast offs of the old Tanganyika Geme Department and others were rifles confiscated from whites by the authorities when Tanzania gained independence. My latest project was a ZG-47 barreled action which was rusted and had some furniture missing, but is now a shooter. Rust blued the barrel and action (did not polish out the pits) and adapted a commercial mauser trigger guard to go with a semi inletted Mauser 98 stock that I finished. Added some cross bolts and it is now in my gun rack! At the moment working up some loads for the 9.3x62. Would be a good Moose rifle if we had Moose in central NY! Will probably just stay in my rack along with the Winchesters in 375 H&H and 458. Still miss Africa and watching the Serengeti migration, hunting warthog and smaller antelope and likes and flying over the great expanses in my plane. Had an old Selou scout as one of my close acquatences who lived his entire life in Africa as did his parents - heard some great tales of "the old days".
