I’m needing some advice. A real good friends father passed away a few years ago and the father was a huge hunter. He loved Weatherby rifles and topped the all with Swarovski scopes. 12 Mark V rifles all with Swarovski scopes. The family is wanting to sell the collection along with the rest of his firearms. Can someone please direct us the best way to do this. Second he has African animal mounts and hides they want to sell also. Thanks everyone for the advice you can give us.

Martin

Send me a detailed list of everything in a pm and what the asking price is.

Thanks
Odin

Same as @Von S. above. I have a friend that buys estates, particularly firearms and animal mounts. I don't personally know of him buying Weatherbys, but he may. If you don't make a deal with Von S. pm me the same info and also where the firearms and mounts are located. He would have to inspect the items before making an offer. I would then forward the information to him and he would decide if he were interested. Good luck in finding a buyer!

Where are the rifles located!

There is always the classified section right here on AH.

I'd rather see what they will bring retail, rather than using a wholesaler, not everybody on this site hates Weatherbys

Rob, clarify for me.....a man has passed and a friend of the family is going to assist in liquidating the deceased person's gun collection. This happens all of the time. So correct me if I am not understanding you. You are suggesting the family friend try to sell each firearm individually to try and obtain a retail worth for it, (how else would you know what they would bring retail?) instead of finding a person to buy the entire collection, and this person usually already has buyers that want certain brands or types of guns. I am sure this happens often also. Just two different ways of going about it. I would think that what the family wants is the deciding factor.

Sell the entire collection in one lot. I would not let people cherry pick it then you get stuck with the undesirables. BTDT
