Having read all sorts of reports about various mounts for the CZ, I'm wondering what you all use on your rifles? I'd like to fit a Leupold 1.5-5x20 onto a .416 Rigby, and would like quick release mounts so I can use the iron sights.

So far I've looked at Alaska Arms, Talley and Warne. My preference currently is in that order. What experiences have you had, good or bad? As always, I'd be very grateful for your thoughts.

I have Warne QD rings on my Brno ZKKs. Solid mount and gives good access to the action if needed. Take on, take off, return to zero every time.

Thanks. I've read mixed reviews about the Warnes. Some users get on fine, others have return to zero issues. I do wonder if that is down to user error more than the rings? Lever tension and seating the mounts tight to the recoil stop before tightening them down will be important I'd have thought?

I have the same Warne Qd rings for my cz550 416 Rigby.

The recoil stop on the Brno/CZ 550 is the square notch on the left side of the rear action bridge. The Warne QD has a matching projection which sits in it and can't move. I just tighten the lever thumb tight and its good to go.
ps. Remember on a safari rifle you're not looking at varmint rifle accuracy. Mine still does MOA but I'd be just as happy with 2 MOA repeatability. The Buff at 20M isn't going to know the difference, nor will the plains game at 150M.

Alaska Arms rings are worth the money

Njc, any of the three brands you mentioned will work. I asked the same question re. my CZ 550 in 404 Jeffery. I asked IvW if he had access to all three (which he did) which one would he choose. His answer was Warne since that is what he was already using. I figured if it was good enough for him to use, it was good enough for me. Remember that they need to be made for the CZ.

Warne will be the easiest for me to source and probably the cheapest. Good to hear a couple of positive comments on those.

The nature of the way these things fit leaves them open to operator error. I do often wonder just how many negative reports are because of incorrect use? Pushed tight against the recoil stop it's hard to see how they would fail to realign. Fail to do that simple step though and they could end up a fair way off and also moved by recoil shot to shot which would open up the groups.

I have Warne QR rings on my CZ550 in 375H&H holding a Leupold VX3 1.5-5x20.
I routinely remove the scope for cleaning and shooting with the irons, always returns to zero.
Also, there is no special base you need to install, the Warne rings fit directly to the CZ action.
I believe the Alaska Arms rings do the same, but are available with the levers on the left or right.

I did have an issue with Talley QR rings returning to zero, but I didn't fully investigate the issue.
Talley is a good company and makes a quality product, they just didn't work for me.
A friend has the same rings on one of his rifles and he has no problems with them.

I have no experience with Alaska Arms, but several members here speak highly of them.

My preference is Warne, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Alaska Arms either.

I just order a set of 30mm Med Alaska Arms rings from Brownells for a BRNO I just picked up. Little bit of a price break compared to ordering direct.

Bought Alaska Arms for my CZ, love them so far.

I have used all three.

They all work. But I think the set I will buy for the 450 Dakota coming shortly will be Alaska Arms.

I sell and use Alaska Arms. Have had good success with them even for big bore.

Yup. Just paid for my second set.

First set went on the 450/400 Nitro No 1.

Second set will go on an AHR CZ 450 Dakota.

They seem to be really well made. You know how after decades of handling "stuff" you can look at and feel something and you go "oh yeah...this is quality stuff"?

That's what I did with the Alaska Arms rings when I unpacked them.

See it's the other way around here. If I order direct they're $140. If I order from Brownells UK they're £200 - $265!

Thanks for all your replies. Much appreciated. I think I'll probably order Warnes - my local dealer stocks them so they will be easy to get. I had concerns that they would't be reliable but you guys have reassured me that they'll be ok.

Is there a member that has experience with Rusan brand detachable scope rings for a CZ-550?
They are made in Croatia and sold by Optics Trade in the EU. The reason for the question is that the front ring is offset and would allow for a scope that wasn't a straight tube to be moved farther to the rear for eye relief purposes on the CZ magnum action.

My 2 bobs worth, I have limited use with my .458wm but I have Warnes, they have the locating lug and unless I’ve been mislead these were a model that are machined from solid stock. Premier series? Or something?
The later models are a sintered steel or casting?
While I hope I have it right and try to ensure I get the best quality within budget there may always be something better but I don’t shoot thousands of rounds through my big bore, granted it does recoil harder than a varmint rifle etc but the accuracy is not so critical so long as acceptable.
Test it a test home and be sure you are satisfied it is return to zero or acceptable repeatable tolerance. Even the most expensive set could fail.
I hope that never happens to anyone and not when it counts not on the trip of a lifetime when you have the trophy of your dreams in your sights.

The rusan mounts aren’t bad. They are knock offs of the eaw pivots for half the price at about $250.

A pivot mount is a great idea. Also, a griffin and Howe side mount, although harder to mount, is a great solution.

I have the same Warne Qd rings for my cz550 416 Rigby.

Likewise. Not keen on the Alaska Arms Rings as the levers are on the left, I much prefer the levers on the right.
