Sorry to hijack the thread but how about this

I don’t think Westley Richards are doing much to sell it for me

The one you linked above: It's a nice rifle from a later period in a smaller caliber. Circa 1964. It appears reworked in the 1980s or early 1990s which begs a question: what happened in 16-25 years that necessitated a full restoration of the gun and its stock? And why did the gun have at least 3 different scope systems installed/removed in such a brief period of time? Nonetheless, you wouldn't find better for less in a 375HH its still a good deal.

Gorgeous firearm, makes a man envious

I’ve decided that if it doesn’t sell by the British shooting show next year I’m gonna keep it

What an intriguing history this rifle has. From your write up it seems to be unique in the truest sense of the word. This offering makes me wish I was among those willing and able to purchase it. I hope a fellow AH member does so. How many hunts have you taken this rifle on?

What a gorgeous rifle! I'll be talking to you if I hit the Power Ball. (y)(y)

I've been doing some soul searching and I'm contemplating selling my .416 Rigby rifle.

The gun was made circa 1942 by Auguste Francotte which makes it a unique piece. It appears to be the only wartime era Rigby that Francotte made and one of only a handful made during all periods.

The gun is beautifully balanced, has an exhibition grade walnut stock, silver's recoil pad, shadow line cheek piece, and ebony forend tip & grip cap. The magazine has the classic 4+1 capacity. It has a "swiss watch" quality standard and set trigger that are perfectly tuned. The action is of course, silky smooth. Standing and folding Rigby style quarter rib rear sights. 26" barrels. The barrels were made by the preeminent barrel making firm in Belgium for Francotte, Laurent Lochet-Habran, Feed and loading is perfect. Bore is excellent. Accuracy is very good with the factory ammo I have used, probably better if you wish to handload. Length of pull is approximately 14-5/8".

This is probably the best do-all dangerous game rifle for Africa that will handle elephant, buffalo, and yet still has the accuracy for large plains game at distance.

You will not find a golden era dangerous game Mauser of this quality, in this caliber, by a renowned maker for less. With case and accessories included, I'd accept $13,500. I may consider consider partial trades.

Really beautiful rifle.

This is a truly beautiful rifle. Please stop dropping the price before this becomes a marital issue! I’m about to take delivery of a Rigby in 9.3x62. If this wanders into the safe at the same time all hell will break loose!

Yes some weird stuff happened around the war ....have a bsw shul 318 wr 1939 again english nomenclature for calibre ...... so war is starting and they are building a 318 WR weird ....also have from the same month a 9.3x74r 12 ga combo ...the WR went to Austria after the war ......

Alright, Here goes:

I'll drop the price to $10,500, AND I'll include 9 boxes of Premium Factory Ammo (softs and solids) for the gun that cost about $1800.

Where are you going to find a better gun for that price, much less a famous European maker, cased, with a lifetime supply of proper safari ammo?

What part of Illinois is it in?

Are you sure you wouldn't rather have a brand new furnace and air conditioner?

Lol. Funny you say that...I traded some medieval swords and a suit of plate armor for a carrier infinity three years ago!

But no, for barter in trade i’d want $20k-$25k of something for this. It would easily be offered for $20k in a gun room. Heck, 270 and 30-06 Francottes are for sale online for $13k-$17k and they made a lot of them.

Damn, I'm a 2 time Carrier Presidents award winner. Beautiful rifle, and the history gives it alot of extra class.
