That is an exceptional Trophy Asiatic bull.

Congrats to the hunter and the team.

WOW! Congrats to the hunter and thanks for sharing!

John sent 2 brief emails:
Territory Buffalo Safaris. Brenton Hurt
Next:
5 day hunt. Fly into Sydney, then North to Northeast tip of Australia, then Bonanza for about 150 miles into bush. Hunt from 4 wheel drive vehicles or 4 wheelers. Accommodations remote, but entirely adequate. Good hunt. Lots of buffalo. Would see 50 bulls a day.

That is truely a great buffalo. Congrats
Bruce

That must have been some time ago as I believe that Brenton has not guided for quite some time.

Interestingly, I know Brenton's old area reasonably well, being only a couple of hundred "clicks" up the road from where I also operated for some time, on the East Coast of Arnhemland.
A good friend of mine now has the access rights to this same area.

Now, or even way back then, bulls of this calibre were not exactly common.

@TOBY458 is this the area you went to?

Not sure. I flew into Darwin, then maybe 2 hours east via truck to camp. It was called Carmor Plains. The outfit was called Australia Wide Safaris. However I spoke with Matt Kelman recently, and they are closing down his operation and selling the property.

John was very happy with his buffalo. I'm sure he knew that it was a nice one.
The picture is dated July 2010.
