SOUTH AFRICA: Pawprint Safaris Sable & Crocodile Hunt

Thank you sir. Book it for the same time I’m there if you wish. Great fun sitting around the campfire “shooting the breeze” about the day’s hunt!

If work makes it a "great" Christmas this year I might be shooting you a message!

I really enjoyed your report up to the point you changed locations and then I somehow lost the thread! I'm glad I 'found' the second part involving Johan's wonderful family and the new tent camp. I would love to see it. Thanks for a great report. And congratulations on some fine trophies!

Thanks Rick. I fly out to go back July 28, 2019. Lion/lioness, gemsbok, impala and of course some night critters are on my list!

I'm thinking you're gonna have a companion on this trip. Getting closer and closer to making the decision! I'm thinking Lioness, Gemsbok, Eland, Impala and maybe a few others, such as Waterbuck, Warthog and Wildebeest.

That would be great! Man that is quite a list! I can always use another warthog especially one as fine as Johan’s daughter took! Of course we would have to do some night hunting! I’d like a honey badger, porcupine, another civet, genet, serval...etc!

Just saw this and man I can’t wait. June 2020 in the tent camp. I have some animals I would like, but I’m all for doing what you did and taking good animals that present themselves. This is exactly what I thought of as a kid and someone talked about Safari.

Glenn, you’re going to have a very enjoyable time there! I’m heading back the end of July! At the tent camp I’m specifically looking for some more night critters (there’s a lot!). During the day I plan to just see what mother Africa offers.

Oh, just an FYI, some of the night critters require a CITES permit, so if you plan to try for some, let Johan or Pieter know what they are so they can get the permits.

Thank you for the heads up on the CITES permits. I’m leaning more and more towards shooting some of the nighttime guys. Funny how taste change in what you want to shoot from reading and seeing different articles and posts.

Some animals require permits from the provinces you will be hunting in, not cities permits.

Oops! You’re right! It was a Limpopo province permit. I think it was a CITIES I got for the croc and/or the black wildebeest. Old man’s memory!

Anyway, you may need a permit for some of the night critters. Just be sure to check ahead so they can be prepared.

Will do. Thank you

The lion grounds are awesome buddy. Say Hi to them from me when you see them. Oh and get ready to walk at a good pace. A lot!!

You took a mighty handsome one! Hope you do a write up with pictures?
