Good, here is the owner of the drone, Tinus, getting the drone ready for the first bait, we are using mackerel head /filet , you can really make a huge bait to take out to sea..

I got a strike and was fighting the Bronze whaler for an hour an a halve, it really is a game of brains and muscle , this involved some fishing techniques different from the standard rock/surf fishing..these sharks really fought hard up to the time you land it ...just after I landed the bronze whaler, looking real tired but very happy..:A Banana::A Banana::A Banana:

Hell of a casting tool. I'd expect nothing less from you and your buddies Gert.
Congrats on the successful fight.

Thank you Wayne, it really is much appreciated...yes, I always fish with the best anglers , Louis and Tinus are really great anglers , I did learn a lot from them in only one day..:A Banana::A Banana:

Gert,
Beats the old KITE FISHING hands down!!
Must try this sometime.. thanks for posting!

The first photo looked like driving on snow. Interesting fishing trip for sure!

Hogpatrol, yes it is an extremely fine white sea sand that forms the dunes. I do not have 4x4 capabilities on my Mazda BT-50 only diff-lock , so I had to de-flate the tyres to be able to drive on the fine sand and over the dunes..this is another reason why we all fish with high quality polarised glasses..the sand /water reflects a lot and damage /cause sore eyes ....we are not allowed to drive on the beaches in South Africa , so we have to follow self drive roads over dunes and need to park above the highwater mark above the beach...

Bruce, for sure, I think fishing with a drone just amplified your chances to get a fish on the line..please note that you still have to pull the fish out of the water...it does not make fighting the fish easier or ensure landing it in a shorter time...:A Banana::A Banana::A Bang Head::A Bang Head:

Tinus used Google maps to find the best route with the shortest route to the beach ..so all our fishing is moving to high tech solutions...I even got myself a GO-PRO 7 to use while spearfishing this week as well as fishing from the rocks ..will start a new thread ..:A Banana::A Banana::A Big Hello::A Big Hello:

ABSOLUTELY...but greatly assists in getting the bait out there where you need it.. then the fun part starts!!!
ONE of the reasons why I changed from rock & surf to deep sea fishing...but boats cost money!! DAMN....

Yes, I do not want to own a boat or the hassels of maintaining a boat, so the drone will be a substitute to a boat for me , even when hunting I will employ the drone ...no game can hide from me now ...I can pin point the kudu bull I want to hunt...the only thing left is to be able to stalk it and do a good shot placement ...:A Banana:

Sold my boat(s) and now charter if I get the urge to go out!! Rather spend that money hunting!!!

@Gert, I read where there are a lot of great white sharks in those waters. Do you fish for them or that something reserved for those running on a lean mixture? :ROFLMAO:

Hogpatrol, no, you are not allowed to touch a great white shark in any circumstances. You are not allowed to reel it in after it strike your bait, you need to release /cut the line as soon as you identify it as a great white shark...
These sharks are protected, so we just allowed to look at them from boats or if you have a lot of money to spend you can go shark diving in a cage in Gansbaai. If you really want a thrill/adrenaline rush there is a spearfishing diver , a local resident of Gansbaai, well known person ,that will take you dive dive alongside him around the great white sharks , he is doing this for a lot of years already, only having a speargun in his hands to prod the great white shark if it gets to close to him...:A Banana::A Big Hello::A Big Hello:

Great way to cast. Good looking shark Gert.

Look forward to your spearfishing videos! What types of fish will you be targeting when you spearfish?

We will be targeting shad, cob, brusher /white mussel cracker and maybe a yellow tail swimming in the shallow reefs ....the rock /surf fishing will be catch /release , since we are spearfishing .although our aim is not to spear anything that moves around in the sea...:A Banana::A Banana:

This is the drone I will be purchasing since I bought a GO-PRO 7 Black for this trip to use when spearfishing and rock/surf fishing..here are some photos..

The Go-Pro 7 black :We will be able to record the spearfishing we do as well as the rock /surf fishing on this trip...
