My wife really appreciated the time I rendered about 10 pounds of bear fat on our kitchen stove said it wasn’t to messy but to her it did not smell good. I couldn’t tell after first couple pounds in a giant cast iron skillet I went nose blind.

Lmao. That’s awesome. My wife tried to tell me something similar when we first got married, my response was to the effect of “your just gunna hafta get glad in the same pants you got mad in”. She stayed mad for the first few years. We’ve been married over 19 years now and she doesn’t even bat an eyelash now. Key is to get them trained up from the get go.

No I don't do the Dew, all that soda is for a soda machine that I take care of at my old shop. Just one more way I can make a few extra bucks to keep me in bullets and keep me hunting.

On that note it is good that I am single.

I have cooked up a few thing on the stove top that it took a couple of weeks to get the smell out of the house. Since then I have learned to try to do these type of things outside on my propane camp stove were the neighbors can wonder what kind of repellent I am brewing up.

However every now and then I will still get the old brew pot out and head to the kitchen to cook something up that shouldn't be cooked inside. And then for the next couple of weeks I pay for it with the windows open and the fans a blowing.

I have tried making my own patch lube with varying results and in the end have chosen Trappers pure mink oil from Track of the Wolf.
It works great doesn’t freeze cleans up easy and I get 15-20 shots between cleaning the bore and it works great to prevent rust on the rifle. Shawn

I have the best wife in the world! As some of you guys might remember I've been on my own for the last month or so because my wife is helping out my daughter. Well she came home today to tidy up the house for Christmas ( all the kids and grandkids are coming home ), I thought that I was dead meat cause my reloading stuff was still strewn all over the dining room table. She was looking at the table and I started apologizing and promising to clean it up right away and she says no it's ok just be sure it's cleaned up by tomorrow night. I was in shock for a minute and all I could get out was ok. I'm not sure what happened in the last month, but whatever happened I'll take it.

Her gift is in the biggest package under the tree this year, believe it or not she asked me years ago to stop buying her jewelry. For years just about every time I went on a hunting trip I would bring her jewelry. She is tough to buy for, no jewelry, my sister owns a flower shop so they have lost their luster, and she says no candy, and I learned along time ago not to even think about buying her clothing (can never get the right size). I was sitting here about a week ago almost in a panic over what to get her for Christmas and all of a sudden a light came on. I think that I am like most guys, maybe a little slow to figure out what our wives want and all of a sudden it came to me. She has been dropping hints for months about what she wanted for Christmas, I was just missing them. Seems like I am much better at paying attention to a track or a blood trail them I am my wife's subtle clues. I'll tell you what I got her after Christmas, you never know, she may be reading my posts and I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise at this point. My daughter is making a wonderful recovery and has about 3 weeks on crutches yet, so about the time my wife comes home for good I'll be leaving for Alaska for 2 weeks. I guess we just weren't meant to be together much this winter.
