Sauer 100 in 9.3x62. Shot very little (as in no more than 60 rounds). Comes with one chipped stock, one new stock that has not had the action put in it, 3 mags, Sauer Hexalock bases and QD rings. Scope not included. $995 plus actual shipping to your FFL or if in Houston area, PM me.

Most of the Sauers I'm familiar with shot very well. How did this one do at the range?

200 yards with either Norma or Lapua. I can’t remember which I was shooting. (Ignore the flyer. Lol)

Why selling if I may ask?

Getting funds together for this years Ruger African from lipseys and dropping the hammer on an R8 in 9.3x62. Just didn’t see the need for three 9.3x62s.

Tru dat!!!! What grain bullet/ammo were you using?

Either the Norma Oryx in 286gr (I think that is the weight) or the Lapua in 286gr. I can’t remember what I was shooting when I did this.

That’s cool. Both premium, of same weight. Erik @gizmo has me interested in the caliber.

I like it and have been impressed with it.

I know a guy selling one ready to go except for scope. Lol

Mine is a 9.3x74R. I don’t have any experience with this caliber but have heard good things about it.

Seems the standard bullet weight for both is 286 grains. I’m not sure but it may just be the difference in one designed rimmed for a double and a rimless for a bolt gun. Kinda like the 375 H&H vs. the 375 Flanged.

For 995 hell I’d give it a whirl if I had the $$$$

62...74.... hell we can make them fit/interchangeable. Can’t be that different?!?!?

.44, .45, whatever it takes!

I have a Model 200 and the sauer's shoot well. The 9.3x74R is a rimmed cartridge for single shot and double rifles, the 9.3x62 is standard bolt action round. I have shot game with on all my safari's with one or the other. 286 gr is the standard weight bullet for them. Kinda like a 300gr is standard for the 375H&H. Both have performance just a bit below the 375. My 9.3's have caused my 375's to gather some dust in my safe.

Being on the rifle kick as of late m, I picked up a Ruger in 9.3x74R and one in .450/400. Not sure why, but I wanted them...

I’m going to have to hunt something big now since I got the .450/400...

Out of curiosity, what caused the original stock to "chip" like that?

My theory is, since it did this once before, is that recoil was setting the action back slightly in the stock. When the bolt handle was lifted it would hit the tip of where it was inletted and chip.

Btw, Sauer/Blaser has awesome customer service. Never gave me one second of problems or tried to put it off on me. They were concerned how to keep it from happening in the future rather than how to get out of making it right. Big reason I decided to get a Blaser

Yep, nothing that a sturdy rubber mallet would not fix LOL

The best known real big boy of the 9.3 family is the 9.3x64 *. It achieves 3,000 fps with a 225 grain bullet and a little over 2,500 fps with 293 to 300 grain bullets. These velocities exceed the velocities from the 9.3x62 by 200 to 400 fps. This is not inconsequential. Actually this was the cause for some earlier issues when bullets designed for the x62 where fired in the x64 and failed to maintain structural integrity due to the additional velocity. The 9.3x64 is fully the ballistic equivalent of the .375 H&H Mag (many say it is better) with the huge advantage that it could be chambered in a standard length Mauser action without requiring magazine length alterations and the milling (hence weakening) of the action behind the lower lug.

The 9.3x74R operates at lower pressure (which was likely the purpose of its immensely longer case) to be reliable in break open single or double rifles, or the German's favorite drillings. Its performance are similar albeit a bit behind the .375 H&H Flanged, itself a tuned down .375 H&H Mag for the same reasons. In so many words, 9.3x74R, .375 H&H Flanged and 9.3x62 are ballistic triplets.

Actually, it may be interesting to mention that Russia recently adopted the 9.3x64 (.366 diameter) as its response to the US and NATO countries adopting the .338 Lapua as an anti personnel extended range and anti material sniper cartridge. That alone tells a lot about the merit of the 9.3x64 in term of payload potential and ballistics...

* there was also a 9.3x70 developed by DWM which is essentially a .404 Jeffery necked down to 9.3 but its actual diffusion has been very limited. I have never seen it, never shot it, and guess that it must be something comparable to the .375 RUM.
