Went out for a hunt with my brother, managed to take this nice young meat animal. 210m shot through both lungs put him down quickly. Had eye fillet and heart for tea. Brother wanted to do the carry out so i didn't argue!

Congrats!

Great food!

Your bro is tough!

Cold down your way?
Yeah she tapped out at 11 degrees yesterday, with a bit of hail through the day. Arvo cleared up a bit so knew the deer would be poking out early to get a good feed in.

What rifle and bullet did the deed, JP?
It was my brothers 270 with factory 130gn powershok.

When i put medium size animals down so easily with cheap factory it does make me wonder why I handload premium ammo sometimes!

I know what you mean. I use factory ammo for .22-250 and .30-30 (except for buffalo). Funny thing... I advised a young bloke keen to shoot a big buffalo with his Remington 7600 .308 to buy some of that new Remington ammo that loads 165 grain Barnes TSX. Well, he found one cartridge loaded with the primer in back-to-front! That could’ve been awkward. I saw pictures of the bull he ended-up getting (on a proper hiking hunt), and it was a proper big one.
