Mannlicher-Schoenauer in 9,3x64

I am using cartridges cal. 9,3 x 62 from RWS with bullet SP ( 285 gr ) and Original Brenneke Torpedo Universal Bullet ( 293gr ).
I use the same cartridges in 375H&H and never had problems in Africa and Poland.

Paul...I had the same experience with some RWS ammo many years ago..... 375H&H with 300 grain Kegelspitz bullets....horribly overloaded, bolt sticked hard after each shot...I gave up after 4 rounds....and mind you, we were shooting in subzero temperatures... That ammo was plain downright dangerous...

This is how german firearm manufacturers conquer the market.

Winchesters, Remingtons, Savages & Co are simply blown away, while Mauser M98 work flawlessly...

;)

Not for sale any longer, I bought it and I will keep it.

HWL
HWL, I think the correct thing to do is for you to bring this rifle to South Africa while you participate in the Black Powder hunt so I can take my .458 Win Mag Mannlicher Schoenauer with , so we both can do a hunt with these two Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles??? We will have kudu , impala and warthog to hunt the last two days with our own rifles for our own account...Willie Barnard allow this to be possible every year...(y)(y)(y)(y) I have an exact copy like your rifle but only in a .458 Win Mag caliber...:LOL::LOL:

Exactly the same type of rifle , just in another caliber:

How much $$$

brenneke my favorite caliber
Don 458, I have a beautiful Brenneke 7x64 available to buy. Then there is a Brenneke 9.3 x 64 for sale as well if you are interested..price on the Brenneke 7x64 = $2009.10 USA ...I do not think permanent exportation to the USA will be a problem....:A Banana::A Big Hello:

Yes, Withold, as HWL said these Mannlicher Schoenauers are in a class of their own..I took my .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer to the elephant hunting course , shot it open sights and had excellent shot placement on the live size targets we shot at , at different angles and distances...(y)(y) I will be extremely fortunate to meet HWL next year at the 1884 Era Black powder hunt..he will be a new member who will participate in the hunt..:A Banana::A Banana:

Withold, here is a video you can look at that will give you an idea of what this type of hunt is about...HWL,my apologies if it seems I am hijacking your post..since you are participating in this hunt next year I think you will like this ,

Some experts say, it does not even exist,.... and here it comes....

The Mannlicher-Schoenauer MCA in 9,3x64!

Proof marks from Proof House of Vienna 1968, metal parts like new, some minor dents in the stock.

HWL, "The Mannlicher -Schoenauer MCA " can you elaborate on the "MCA" part of the sentence? What does the "MCA " stands for ...I know the white spacers/black liners was a trend in America when Weatherby rifles was so popular and it was part of their design features. I noticed the normal Mannlicher Schoenauers was a plain well designed rifle without any white line spacers and soup bowl cheek piece...
The most prominent feature on all Mannlicher -Schoenauers are the sleek rifle stock design...was this due to the use being mostly hunting in the mountains around Austria??? I really would like to hear more about the Mannlicher -Schoenauer stock design features...(y)(y)
Would the Mannlicher -Schoenauer in the caliber of a 9.3x68 be a more rare item than the 9.3 x 64???
The soup bowl feature on my .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer is a design feature I really do not understand since this is a heavy recoil dangerous game rifle and for sure it must be a limitation to some users..not every person`s face profile will accept this soup bowl design when shooting this rifle..for example it causes quite a lot of pain to the side of Johan Greyling`s face when he shoot this .458 MS...while my face profile fits nicely into the soup bowl feature...

HWL, I noticed a company called WattsWallnut has available scope mounts to fit the .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer I have..there are already drilled/tap holes on the left side of the receiver..all that is left is to drill and tap the front receiver bridge to scope my .458 Mannlicher Schoenaer ...

Here is even a better designed scope mounts with a Ghost ring as well..this looks like a great option for the .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer rifle...keep in mind the .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer is not a "real" collectors item...although many hunters will buy one if he can get hold of one it is not a collectors item ..so, scoping the .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer with this type of scope bases will increase it`s functionality and usability for plains game hunting..(y)(y)(y)

HWL, will it be possible to upload a photo of the safety on your Mannlicher Schoenauer..since one curios feature on my .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer is that there are two safety switches on my rifle..one on the right hand a sliding safety and then the flag safety..this lets me to believe my rifle does not have a collectors value since the slide safety is already fitted previously...this is why I am contemplating fitting the Redfield scope bases/mounts with the ghost ring , the one in the picture...I would like to hear your opinion in this regards????
Here is a photo of the side safety..

Hi Pondoro...

I shot it not yet....

I want to hunt with this rifle, but I do not want to modify it in any way, not even the recoil pad
HWL

PAST shoulder pad? Shotgun shirt with recoil pad and sleeves shortened for extra movement?

You do not get it...I shot those rounds in a Brno ZKK 602 rifle. It has a Mauser lock at least as strong as any M98 actions...the RWS ammunition was dangerously overloaded..

Gert, MCA is Monte Carlo Allpurpose stock design, a redesign of the 1956 MC which had the monte carlo too high to see the iron sights. The MCA doesn't have the soup bowl cheek rest but, a more conventional beaver tail type. Yes the white line spacers were a 1960's American thing that I wish had never happened. To my eye, the 1950 M/S had the best stock and bolt handle design. In 1952 the handle was swept back and in 1956 the God-awful Monte Carlo stock was added.
The earlier models, 1903, 1905, 1908, and 1910 had everything right!

Gert, regarding the safety on the MCA, the earlier one was the same type in your photo. I believe it was 1963 when the "behind the bolt" sliding tang safety was added. I have a 1961 with the side safety and a 1965 with the tang safety.
