Hello all. I have a very unique hunting opportunity for a very rare deer species. Over the last few years I have worked very hard to establish a huntable population of Dybowski Sika, also known as Manchurian Sika. These are not Japanese Sika deer. Dybowski Sika is one of the rarest deer species in the world and are native to China. They are also the largest bodied and antlered of the 14 sub species of true Sika. It is estimated that roughly 9,000 Sika deer are left in Eastern Russia. Their range at one time spanned all over Northern China (formally Manchuria), Eastern Russia, and into Northern Korea.
I am selling 1 hunt package for only 1 of my Dybowski Stag and it will be several seasons more than likely before I offer another of these packages. An interesting thing about Dybowski’s is that their antlers crown at the top in a smaller version similar to Red Deer.

Included: 3 full hunting days, 4 nights lodging, guides, meals, fishing, unlimited hogs/predators, sporting clays, and trophy fee for 1 Trophy Dybowski Stag. (All Dybowski available for take at clients choice are estimated at SCI silver minimum with one being estimated SCI gold). Skinning, trophy prep, quartering, and a discount on taxidermy if my company is used is also included. Airport pickup/drop off at Amarillo Int’l Airport is free of charge.

Not included: Airfare, tips, taxidermy, processing, Texas hunting license (roughly 45$) usual stuff.

These are all part of my breeding herd and guide has final say on animal taken meaning only mature stag are available for harvest. If you are interested in this opportunity the earlier in the season, preferably pre-rut, the better. Sika deer are very aggressive in nature and as a result tend to fight and break antlers as the season goes on.

Cost:
Day fee $300/hunter/day x3 days $900
Trophy fee: $5500
Total: $6400
Non hunting Observers: $150/day

Deposit is total of daily fees. Hunter can add additional animals and we can accommodate hunting partners wishing to hunt other species at the same time.

Good offer for an unusual animal. Is this a spot and stalk hunt? Rifle only or a chance for a bow hunter? Good luck selling this hunt.

Good looking animals and offer. Is the timing good to combine aoudad with this hunt?

Thank you Bruce, this hunt will be a spot and stalk hunt. Means of take can be either a bow or rifle. Hunting over a feeder really isn’t an option as they rarely visit them and are generally in some of the thickest nastiest stuff that can be found.

Yes sir absolutely. From now until late October early November is the absolute best with late September into mid October ideal. Great time for Aoudad too.
The kicker to these guys is to catch them before the hinds go into estrus. They will fight starting now that they have shed but once the females come in heat the fights get downright viscous. My biggest one last year by the end of season had only half of his right main beam left before he shed. I’ve only got one set of complete unbroken sheds from one of my Dybowski’sand he was a younger stag.

These guys are some impressive fighters too. They weigh about what a big Whitetail will weigh but will absolutely mop the floor with a fully mature Red Deer Stag. I’ve got a 400+ inch Red Deer that’s only been out of velvet about 3 weeks. He’s already had several tines broken off his right crown and I’d bet dollars to dognuts he tried tangling with one of the Dybowski stags.

Sika are one of my favourite deer hunted them in NZ, which is mostly jap but a little manchurian blood that shows from time to time. Someone will love hunting these elusive buggers!

Thank you and I agree. These guys are one of the coolest animals out there and are an absolute riot to spend time around. When they get mad and puff up you certainly know it and there are very few things out there that want any part of these guys when they want to fight.
On an interesting note about 10 years ago I was at a place down in south Texas and watched a Japanese Sika, which are just a touch over half the size of a Dybowski, completely whip the tail off a white bearded gnu. Sika are certainly the Napoleons of the animal world.

I certainly believe that, i filmed a jap giving a red stag a hiding in nz. Napoleonesque is an understatement!

Right, I love having them but it can be quite irritating when they start picking on my Red Deer. Especially when they break them up and knock a bunch of inches off of them.

Took mine many year's ago. They are a cool animal to hunt.

Guys I was at the ranch last weekend looking for big red deer to get a count and check on the calves born this year (red deer herd is doing amazing btw). I bumped into several Dybowski’s and saw two massive Sika bucks. Either of those should have no problem making SCI gold.
